We chose this hotel off latebookings.com because it looked classy and interesting as a base for visiting National Trust properties in the area, and we weren't disappointed. First impressions of the lobby and bar area are that it is very smart with some serious furnishings and decor. Minimalist it ain't. The room was in a similar style, of a decent... more

We had 4 nights at the hotel in Room 7 - Victoria - which had an extra room to the side to be shared with Albert had he appeared. The room was furnished with shabby old bits which looked as if they had been rescued from a junk sale. There were hardly any drawers, 6 of those annoying irremovable coathangers... more

After having read some of the reviews I was slightly anxious about my forthcoming visit!! There was certainly no need, from arrival to departure the whole experience was first class!!! (And my standards are extremely high)!! Upon arrival we were shown two beautiful rooms, and were offered further choice if we were not satisfied, that was certainly not the case.... more

Tricky one to review. We were there for a wedding and got a preferential room rate. However room 5 was not good. It had a four poster which was far too big for room which meant you had to squeeze past sideways to get through. The mattress seemed dire but actually wasn't too bad to sleep on. Only one lamp... more

We stayed at the royal wells for a wedding we thought that it would be your run a the mill wedding venue however the attention to detail was amazing the reception room looked out of this world and the food we had was amazing. The staff at the hotel were very attentive and extremly helpful. We stayed up late drinking in the... more

Stayed here in the summer, and was pleasantly surprised with the stay that I had - I had looked around at review before, which left me somewhat worried, but after spending a long weekend in one of their larger rooms, I found nothing to complain about. The room had more character than you'd find at some other cookie-cutter hotels, offered... more

My sister booked two rooms here, and it seems pot luck as it if you get a good one! Her room was spacious, tastefully decorated - ours was tiny (the bathroom was bigger!) dusty, smelt musty, noisy and dated. The whole place is a bit tired but it kind of adds to the charm. The breakfast was great and we... more

I don't understand how anyone can give this hotel a good rating - unless you the persons concerned aren't well travelled. I would have loved to see the two rooms in the Hotel's Photo section as they look very nice, but my experience was far from pleasant. I'll give you some facts, so you can judge for yourself: Bar area... more

We really liked this hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly, breakfast was excellent and our room (Miss Prowse) was of the standard, size and decor that you'd expect from a far pricier establishment. The only reason I haven't given The Royal Wells a full five out of five is because some better sound insulation would really aid a restful... more
