A disappointing pub/restaurant/hotel. The building is shabby with peeling paint, broken roof tiles, moss and plants growing from gutters. The rooms are equally in need of some 'tlc' and better lighting. The food in the restaurant is of reasonable quality but significantly over-priced and the service is quirky.

It was a warm sultry afternoon when we rolled up with Molly the Dog and my wife in tow. We had booked and although we were late the welcome could not have been more warm. Now I am one of these difficult customers who restaurants really dislike , while the menu looked wonderful, my wife and I decided we would... More

Thank you so much for your review, it was a pleasure to see you, especially Molly. Our staff and ourselves try extremely hard to make The Beacon approachable, welcoming place, but with good quality food and drink and it is very special to us when this is appreciated. More

I had booked The Beacon for my son's Christening celebration on 11th May. It was by no means a small celebration (around 50 people were due to attend) and having had a few nice meals in the past my husband and I thought it would be the perfect location. On a sunny afternoon in April I took my son, who... More

Lovely room and great service. They couldn't do enough for us. Wanted to take my husband our for his birthday so I decided on the beacon as it was romantic and ideally away from the town. Breakfast was lovely. Loved it so much, we have decided to have our renewal of vows there.

I recently booked 1 night's stay with my young daughter and whilst the bedroom (Georgian room) was ok it was not cheap and not the best value and we had some issues with opening the main windows in a boiling hot room and only found out how to properly open the window in the morning. Having said this the bath... More

We recently stayed here as we were going to a wedding. We had dinner in the restaurant which was one of the best meals I've eaten in a very long time. The rooms are spacious and very very comfortable, the only reason I gave the room 4 Marks out of 5 is because of the swing style doors to the... More

We recently stayed at The Beacon and had an amazing time, John and Dianne, the owners were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, including booking taxi's for us! We checked in and had a lovely lunch, amazing food and better than some top restaurants we have been to in the past. We booked to stay in the Georgian... More

We stayed in the Georgian Room. It was quite spacious with period furnishings and character. Limited view to North over car park (other rooms would have better views). The bed was super-soft which may suit some people but not us. Cleanliness was OK. We didn't have hot water for a several hours, but we might have just been unlucky as... More

I always enjoy stopping at the Beacon and enjoying a drink on the terrace facing a stunning view. We stopped with my family when they came over in July (I wanted to show them where we got married). The children enjoyed playing in the park (acres and acres of land) The Team is always helpful and nice. If you are... More
