On the positive side: the location is perfect, near buses and the town center. The rooms are nice if you like the old-fashioned style, good size and comfortable, clean enough. The breakfast is all right but not included in the price One the negative side: the bathroom is small, the service is decent but the hostess is a litttle bit... more

We had planned to do some sightseeing before getting on our cruise ship but we couldn't because there was no place to leave our luggage. Due to security considerations there is no place in Dover to leave your bags-not the train station, cruise port, tourist information, no where. So when the Penny Farthing refused to allow us to leave our... more

This place IS in a great location but it was last decorated in the 70's, probably, and felt very dusty and dated. There are lots of bikes and dusty hats sitting around, presumably to evoke some sort of sense of days gone by. The towels, mattresses and pillows share one characteristic, they're all very thin. The proprietors were quite indifferent.... more

We spent one night at the Penny Farthing, having caught the ferry over to Dover from Calais. We booked the family room for us and my husband's two late teenage kids and had a lovely stay. The room was certainly big enough, well priced and not too far to walk from the ferry terminal. The hostess was charming and keen... more

Bikes - real and model- everywhere. Lovely airy older but big room. Nice bathroom (water ran a little cool). Basic cooked breakfast, limited choice of cereals. Lovely hosts with HUGE dog. Very friendly - suggestions of where to eat. Breakfast at extra charge, as many guests leave early for ferry to France. more

Of the two B&B's I stayed at during this trip, this was the inferior one. The staff was not unfriendly but unattentive. The room was decent, though the bathroom was small. The only thing i truly appreciated during this stay was the location, not far from Dover Centre and approx. 15 minutes walking from the shore. The breakfast is not... more

We spent one night at the Penny Farthing at the end of our cruise. The information stated 4 p.m check-in except by prior arrangement. I am not sure what "prior arrangement" entails. I emailed the owner twice to request early check-in, stating that we would be disembarked from the cruise ship by 9 a.m. at the latest and asking if... more

We stayed one night and found our room(at the back) quiet and comfortable.Lovely hand and shower soaps WERE supplied. It was a short walk to the town centre and the beach but, having a car,we drove up to the magnificent castle (free parking) The hostess was friendly and helpful and we chose not to have breakfast which made our stay good... more

Conveniently located for the town centre and the ferries, the Penny Farthing is a charming, well-maintained guest house in an old building with lovely original features. more

the staffs are friendly, it's located near the city centre, which was very convenient. The rooms are really lovely, it's big, the negative sides would be all the bugs (i'm really sensitive with those stuff), and there's no shampoo and bath lotions. I would definitely stay in this place again. more
