I stay in hotels nearly every day for work and this is the worst one ive been in so far. I booked it last minute as my previous choice was unavailable. I knew it wouldn't be the best as you don't expect too much from a Hostel. The email stated check in was from 3pm (Why so late i'm not... More

As I assume is the case for the vast majority of people staying here, my Partner and I stayed for one night before getting the ferry in the morning. The good: It said very clearly in the booking information that check in closes at 10pm. We were driving down from Nottingham after 6 so we didnt expect to get there... More

Is this maybe some sort of scam? This is one of the worst hotel-experiences ever! When we arrived, it seemed quite dark and dingy and, contrary to what we assumed, there was no hotel parking space, only paid parking spaces. Didn't feel very safe, considering the area, which seemed pretty scary and desolate. The Alma Hotel had taken our money... More

Thankfully we only stayed one night, the room was on the corner of the building, roof was slanted there was only 4 foot head clearance in some places. Two single beds although double was requested. Massively overpriced even for one night. Reasonably close to ferry terminal though. Would not stay here again.

We actually cannot live in the hotel, because the host shouted and kicked us out in a heavy rainy night! He was the rudest man I have ever met so far. The case was like this: we booked a double room and a third friend came with us and we need another single room. Since the host didn't have one... More

I must first state that we paid £15 pp for this room on a cycling trip from London to Amsterdam so based on price, my expectations werent huge. Aggressive Landlord, poorly decorated and finished rooms, grubby and dirty throughout. I saw the bed sheets hanging up drying in the back garden which is a building site. Pay £15 extra and... More

There's a bed, a tv and a shower...fairly clean. Have had to disappear before breakfast is served but there is a promise of tea, coffee and biscuits in the guests kitchen so for the price I can't really fault things...parking is however a stretch. I was in the on street permit zone which fortunately due to early departure not the... More

As we approached from across the road we thought that the building was derelict and maybe we were at the wrong address, unfortunately we wasn't. We had the room with the cut-out door (see photo's posted by previous reviewers), it was small and the en-suite was tiny, you had to stand in shower tray to use the small wash basin.... More

We didn't check the Trip-advisor first and as we only found 2 hostels in Dover this was "the best" option (42 pounds 2 people). When we arrived it was depressing to see the hostel from outside, it looks like an old jail. my boyfriend and i had to stay waiting until 3 because there was no one to open the... More

Firstly I could only find 2 hostels in Dover and the other had worse reviews. The Dover area is obviously not very prosperous and there is not an abundance of high quality backpacker accommodation as in other parts of the world. Considering this, the hostel was clean and central with a good breakfast. However, the rooms are small, stairways cramped... More
