We stayed two nights prior to boarding a cruise boat in Dover, having been wisely advised that this hotel was one of the best places to stay in the area. This is a small hotel with a destination quality restaurant. Our room was unique and we enjoyed our time on tour of the area-Canterbury Cathedral and Dover Castle being the... More

My wife and I stayed here on Travelzoo mini break, and were very impressed by the style, quality of finish and cleanliness. The staff were friendly, with nothing too much trouble. The food was of high quality and beautifully presented with some interesting taste combinations. We had the suite which was lavishly appointed and very comfortable. Set in a pretty... More

Had an amazing visit to this hotel and restaurant, the room are lovely and all individually designed , spotlessly clean , we had the gourmet package and I have to say the food was to die for , the staff are friendly and efficient, will certainly be returning .

We stayed here on a groupon offer for two nights, paid a bit extra for an upgraded room. The hotel is lovely and our room was decadent. Initially I spotted a problem with the bedding but they immediately sorted it. We had a fantastic 4 course dinner, it felt like master chef, with all the beautiful dishes being presented to... More

My wife and I stayed here last weekend and had a very good experience. We had afternoon tea when we arrived and the staff were very professional. The four coarse dinner was brilliant and delicious. The room we had was the wolverton and was really comfortable and clean. The only issue we had was one of the spot lights in... More

Arrived to find lovely room and very welcoming staff who showed us to our room. Other staff were busy picking fresh herbs from the Hotel's garden. Food was really amazing - highlights were the haddock scotch egg in a stunning pea velouté and the strawberry soufflé. We had the six course tasting menu with matched wines and really enjoyed the... The room we had with a balcony on the 1st floor was spacious and well equipped - particularly the huge bathroom - so well worth the £10 upgrade. Only drawback was that it was too hot to sit on the balcony (no fault of the hotel !). As another recent reviewer has also mentioned, the restaurant décor is modern bordering... More

Needed to do this before I forgot. Stayed with my 7 year-old daughter on Wed 8th July for one night as we were visiting elderly relatives in Canterbury. Beautiful weather but pleasantly cool inside what appears to be an old converted village pub. The staff during our stay were excellent, most especially the young lady who booked us in at... More

The weather was so lovely in June of this year, that on the spur of the moment we decided to enjoy a few days in Kent. We wanted to be near Dover Castle, Great Dixter garden and generally tour the area, but had great difficulty finding a convenient hotel at such short notice. We then found by chance, the Marquis... After a harrowing journey avoiding the problems with the M20 finally arrived at the hotel to find we were not too late but had arrived 24 hours early!! Rosie on reception was not at all phased and offered my wife and I alternative accommodation in one of two cottages owned by the hotel for a small extra charge. Our mistake... More
