Having greatly enjoyed our previous visit to The Marquis for lunch back in November 2013 we’d decided upon returning at some stage for an overnight stay in order to more fully enjoy both The Marquis and the picturesque Alkham valley in which this boutique restaurant with rooms is situated. We took advantage of a Travelzoo offer of one night’s accommodation,... More

Me and my partner visited here this weekend for my partner's birthday. We had an amazing time, the staff were so helpful and polite. Rooms were lovely, and the food was amazing as were the selection of wines. Will definitely be visiting again, great place! Was recommended it by a friend and it was definitely as good as we expected... More

Alkham valley is a largely unknown delight between Dover and Folkestone. In the middle of the village is the Marquis. Went for lunch having spotted whilst dodging Operation Stack. Friendly efficient and knowledgeable staff - even produced a Chapel Down that we mentioned but was not on their list but the waiter knew there were 2 bottles left - only... More

We spent 2 very pleasant nights in this 'restaurant with rooms' Our room overlooked the beautiful Alkham valley and was light and well equipped. Plenty of traffic went by at the peak times but the double glazing worked well and it did not affect us.Breakfasts were self service for continental and you ordered your cooked breakfast. which was of high... Stayed in Wolverton for one night with my good lady wife. Went to celebrate a friends birthday. Great night, good food, good wine, good service and friendly staff. Room was excellent and the breakfasts much improved from our last stay. All in all a good stay - we have now booked a stay at Christmas.

Just home from a 1 night stay at the Marquis. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our room, which was lovely. On first impressions, all looked great with the hotel and room. As the traffic in Kent has been horrendous lately, we booked a table in the restaurant for dinner at 8.30pm. Our dinner order was taken... More

We stayed here for one night, and absolutely loved it. It is an extremely professionally run hotel, with very friendly and professional staff in all areas. Our dining experience was excellent, with imaginatively created food beautifully presented by extremely professional and charming staff. The music which was playing throughout our visit was wonderfully relaxing, too. Everyone seemed happy in their... More

2nd visit to The Marquis (so that speaks volumes) and it did not disappoint. Is this a hotel with destination dining or is it a restaurant with rooms? It bills itself as 'Boutique B & B' and I'm not sure that description does justice to the place. The rooms and general décor are certainly 'Boutique' but the service and food... More

We stayed two nights prior to boarding a cruise boat in Dover, having been wisely advised that this hotel was one of the best places to stay in the area. This is a small hotel with a destination quality restaurant. Our room was unique and we enjoyed our time on tour of the area-Canterbury Cathedral and Dover Castle being the... More

My wife and I stayed here on Travelzoo mini break, and were very impressed by the style, quality of finish and cleanliness. The staff were friendly, with nothing too much trouble. The food was of high quality and beautifully presented with some interesting taste combinations. We had the suite which was lavishly appointed and very comfortable. Set in a pretty... More
