We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of August. The staff were excellent in every way, including being a human sat nav and guiding us to the grounds over the phone when we got lost. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with nice toiletries and a view of the cathedral that was unrivalled. Breakfast was a very civilised... More

Very nice place to stay in Canterbury, it was quiet and very central, an easy walk from the station and a great advantage accessing the Cathedral and Cathedral area at no cost. Good breakfast, the only disadvantage was they did not have room service but we shall use the hotel again, highly recommended for your stay in this city.

Stay here if you want to walk to the Cathedral (entry price included in cost of hotel) and stroll to the restaurants, bars and shops! Great service from great staff too! You can also park in the Cathedral grounds but you have to move your car by check-out on your final morning.

Stayed here to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. Large double room with shower bathroom and stunning views of the Cathedral. Bed comfortable but pillows a little hard! Hotel very clean, staff extremely helpful and full Kentish breakfast included each morning. Good selection and service. Hotel is a peaceful oasis within the Cathedral grounds. Best to book parking within the Cathedral... More

Within the cathedral precincts, this is a gem of a place. Very helpful and friendly staff who provide a list of restaurants close by ,and a pass card which allows free access to the cathedral, precincts in the evening, and discounts at those restaurants .Secure parking is £5 per night, and very good pricing make this something of a bargain.... Stayed 2 nights, paid extra for a cathedral view. Hour from London by train. Room had open area for hanging clothes. Hangers did not detach. If you plan to do any laundry bring some hangers for the shower. VERY small shower and we are not big. Room had a bay window which added space to the room. Room was pretty... More

I arrived from London via USA and this beautiful, quiet lodge offered me comfy rest, excellent hospitality and more amenities than I expected, plus the location inside the cathedral grounds means Thatcher have access to the beauty of the space before it's crowded with tourists. The breakfast was delightful, the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the room clean and... More

The budget option of staying in the annex to the lodge is ideal if you're a wanderer not planning on staying on site too much (doors slam. walls are thin and neighbouring guests are not always considerate!). Excellent room facilities, friendly staff especially upon arrival, good size rooms... A shame the breakfast isn't really that great. Was much better when... More

Location, location, location. The lodge is right within the cathedral walls. We had a partial view from our room of the cathedral. The cathedral is beautifully lit at night. A perk of staying at the lodge is that you can walk the cathedral grounds in the evening when the other visitors are gone and you have free entry into the... More

Have stayed twice, first time in the main building and second time in courtyard. Liked the first one much better, as it had more room, a view and room was more in contemporary style. The hotel is in cathedral grounds which makes it unique stay in old town Canterbury. Liked the peaceful environment and a library for working. Breakfast with... More
