Really welcoming host and lovely communal areas, however I felt that our room wasn't quite as nice as it looked on the website. It needed a lick of paint, had an utterly bizarre collection of artwork that didn't have any coherent theme at all, and the 'kingsize bed' was actually two singles pushed together - which left my feet hanging... The White House is a brilliant find, great central location, great hosts, tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean. Lovely breakfast, no complaints hence why I keep returning and will continue to do so!

Words alone cannot do The White House justice, you simply have to stay there to see for yourself how elegant and peaceful it is and how welcoming and warm Mr & Mrs Olney are. They made our stay extra special with their thoughtfulness and generosity, we stayed on Valentine's night and were greeted in our room with a red rose,... More

Lovely and clean very friendly with a great choice for breakfast and most helpful host, right in the centre of Canterbury near all amenities, nice to find a single room that was less expensive than the double sixth no extra supplementary charge.

The hotel looks very exclusive from the outside, it felt like quite a privilege to be staying for the night! The welcome was friendly. The room was small but perfectly formed with a large en suite bathroom including a huge bath and a shower. The bed was comfy and the room spotlessly clean and well decorated. The only downside was... A wonderful weekend visit to Canterbury and a super boutique style B&B. Beautiful character building in a central location just off the main drag. Exceptional taste with the decor inside and out. Lovely hosts and we'd love to return.

We stayed here for a single night in February while visiting our daughter at CCU and watching a concert in the cathedral. Honestly, I can't think of anything but good things to say about the place. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival (but not over-warmly like some places) and the room - advertised as "snug" - was clean, comfortable... More

Adrian made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Gorgeous building, interior decorated beautifully, very clean and stylish. Rooms are very comfortable and remarkably quiet considering how close it is to the high street. We were given our own front door key and felt that we could come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was first class, not... More

Beautiful white house, very clean rooms, lovely hosts. The only downside is that the heat goes off at night, I woke up at 6am and had to wait in bed until the heat goes on again at 7am... which only matters in the winter and if you are an early bird I guess?

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
If you enjoy staying in stylish accommodation, with all those extra little personal touches that make you feel special as a guest, then welcome to The White House. The property is an elegant Grade II listed Regency Town House, originally reputed to have been the retirement home of Queen Victoria's Head Coachman and built in 1825. Our 4 Star Highly Commended accommodation is especially suited to discerning guests seeking a small intimate property (regrettably we do not cater for children) and its ideal location, within the City walls, is an added bonus for those who enjoy soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of a University city and who appreciate good old fashioned personal service to the impersonality of national hotel chains. Rooms are furnished to ensure maximum guest comfort - large cosy beds to fall into after a hard days sightseeing, soft pillows, with cool contemporary white linens and quality furnishings to ensure a real 'home from home'. A few minutes walk (literally!) will take you right into the main High Street, so we are perfectly situated to browse all the best shops, restaurants and of course a 'must see' visit to the Cathedral and perhaps take in a show at the stunning new Marlowe Theatre.Parking couldn't be easier - across the road in the Pound Lane Car Park - with concessionary vouchers available to our guests at £6.00 for 24 hours ... more   less
