We stayed for two nights in room 1 and found it exactly as described with a huge, comfortable bed and a lovely en-suite bathroom. This room overlooks the theatre and was peaceful and quiet. The property is very elegant and ideally situated in the heart of things in Canterbury. Adrian does everything to ensure your stay is pleasant. Breakfast menu... More

Our fourth and last visit for a while as we came to see our daughter graduate. Each visit has been 1st class and Adrian the perfect host, nothing ever too much trouble. We were up early both mornings and away before breakfast, which was a shame as Adrian always serves up a good and sensible sized breakfast. We stayed in... More

Adrian threw such a wobbly when we arrived (because we'd parked in the car park) that if I hadn't already paid for a night's accommodation then I would have walked out and not returned. During our stay I noticed that if you don't do things Adrian's way then you're wrong. Our bedroom and en-suite shower room were on the small... More

We booked our accommodation at the White House after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. First I want to say that the communication with Adrian was excellent through emails. Also, we did arrive early in Canterbury by train and Adrian was kind enough to take us in earlier than the check-in time. The location is very convenient to everything in town.... More

We used trip advisor to book both our B&B and evening meal for our overnight stay in Canterbury and were very pleased that the odd negative review for this establishment did not put us off. We were greeted by our host Adrian and deliberately emailed ahead to arrange an early meet and issue of car park tickets to explore the... More

We overnighted at this BnB on our way to Dover. Upon arriving in Canterbury by car we struggled to get to the front door of this BnB because of the convoluted one way and blocked off streets in the centre of Canterbury. All that behind us, Adrian who was a perfect host, greeted us, helped with the luggage and showed... More

Having been previously ,most recently in 2012, we had high expectations and were not disappointed .The combination of top quality accommodation ,genial service and superb location is an unbeatable formula. We'll certainly be back as soon as we can.

You've all heard the maxim 'you pay for what you get', well never has it been more appropriate for this Bed & Breakfast. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but what you get is a highly comfortable, scrupulously clean, very friendly bed and breakfast, close to the city center, yet tucked away in a quiet side street.... We stayed here for a wedding weekend in early June 2014, from arrival to departure our stay at the White House was faultless. Adrian is a great host, cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable about Canterbury. Our room was on the top floor with a comfy bed and handy en-suite bathroom. It was a warm summers day when we arrived, and this... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you enjoy staying in stylish accommodation, with all those extra little personal touches that make you feel special as a guest, then welcome to The White House. The property is an elegant Grade II listed Regency Town House, originally reputed to have been the retirement home of Queen Victoria's Head Coachman and built in 1825. Our 4 Star Highly Commended accommodation is especially suited to discerning guests seeking a small intimate property (regrettably we do not cater for children) and its ideal location, within the City walls, is an added bonus for those who enjoy soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of a University city and who appreciate good old fashioned personal service to the impersonality of national hotel chains. Rooms are furnished to ensure maximum guest comfort - large cosy beds to fall into after a hard days sightseeing, soft pillows, with cool contemporary white linens and quality furnishings to ensure a real 'home from home'. A few minutes walk (literally!) will take you right into the main High Street, so we are perfectly situated to browse all the best shops, restaurants and of course a 'must see' visit to the Cathedral and perhaps take in a show at the stunning new Marlowe Theatre.Parking couldn't be easier - across the road in the Pound Lane Car Park - with concessionary vouchers available to our guests at £6.00 for 24 hours ... more   less
