As previous reviews have stated this is a hotel in dire need of refurbishment. On the positive side, the staff were wonderful, always smiling and willing to help and a special thanks to Darina our waitress who was delightful and made our stay most enjoyable. The food was always plentiful and very tasty and the chef even obliged with chips... more

The address listed for this hotel leads to a door that is permanently locked, and at which no one answers the bell. The television in the room, although new, received only four terrestrial channels. I was moved to another room where I was told the television was equipped with Freeview, but it had not been set up to do so.... more

Dear Mr R I was very sorry to hear of the difficulties you experienced during your stay with us. I have not encountered a situation in the past of a guest who could not locate our front door and found himself stranded in the side street. Nor indeed did any other guests experience a shortage of hot water at the...

To get the bad points out of the way first; the floor boards were really, really squeaky, you can't move an inch without them making noise, secondly the bathroom had no curtains so we had to improvise with a towel; thirdly, it has single glazed windows so depending on where your room is located it can be a little noisy... more

When we arrived we saw immediately that the public areas were filthy. There is no lift and getting up the near spiral staircase was difficult and the stair carpet was torn in several places which could be dangerous if not repaired. We had the room with the minimum size double bed with the window close to the extract fan from... more

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback. This is always appreciated and will be discussed by the management team at the hotel. It is true that we were very busy over the weekend however have no records of any dissatisfaction. If you had raised this at the time, we would have done all in our power...

Stayed for three nights and found it most enjoyable. The staff are superb and without exception pleasant and eager to help you enjoy your stay. The dining staff had to deal with a difficult customer one night and did so with great professionalism - most impressed! The food was fresh and well cooked and breakfast was typical hotel self-service but... more

Had an extremely enjoyable stay. An city centre location but quiet. All staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful. The rooms were adequately furnished and clean but could do with modernising. The breakfast was adequate with a variety of cold and hot selections. Overall a comfortalbe, enjoyable experience. more

We were booked in to stay at this hotel but having read the dreadful reviews we decided against it and in fact we called them, to get an update on the FLEA situation The receptionist went off to get a flea update, but sadly never came back. We were on hold for ages... I hope she's ok. more

Thank you for your review. I can assure you that in the 18 months since I took over the hotel, there have been no cases concerning flea's. We regularly conduct inspections and treatments in order to ensure that we have no problems with any form of pest. I understand you did not visit the hotel so I would suggest with...

Returned after one night in room 28 on first floor, had little sleep due to the creaking floorboards ,the loud couple having sex on the 2nd floor directly above my wife and I, and the really uncomfortable bed and pillows. I have stayed in a few hotels and I found this to be very old in style, floorboards in serious... more

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. I am sorry that you were not happy with the quality of accommodation offered at the hotel. Our aim is to make all guests as confortable as possible. The hotel dates back some several hundred years and there are creaking floorboards. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do...
