I have stayed in a number of hotels in Canterbury in and around this price range and this was one of the loveliest. I stayed for one night. I had a great room, with views of the cathedral. It was impeccably clean and the power shower was wonderful. The host was very welcoming and I will most certainly be back.... More

Me and my girlfriend came down to Canterbury for a day trip. There was some minor renovation expansion and renewal work going on in the property (however nothing disturbing, neither smelly nor noisy) the hosts seemed very keen on getting feedback and looking for areas in which to improve. We'd booked a small cosy room, as we arrived our host... More

We stayed for one night, and had a great stay. Fantastically hospitable host, who gave us great advice on the local area, and a great room, very comfortable and with good amenities. Clearly every effort has been made to make customers comfortable. It's an informal stay, so don't stay if you're expecting a Ritz experience, but is still a mile... More

It is a welcoming, warm comfortable little hotel. I had one night to spend by myself in Canterbury before meeting my group. This was exactly what I wanted and a very reasonable price.. Such a nice place with nice staff too and I was given a free room upgrade to a really lovely room at the front and slept very... More

Went with my girlfriend for a couple of nights, really enjoyed the stay and is nicely located close to Canterbury. We stayed in two rooms over two nights as we booked on the day and were happy with both rooms, they were clean and even the cosy room was nice. The breakfast is self-service but there is plenty for you... More

the pros first of all: good location literally 5 minutes walk from town. nice rooms albeit small. Cons are: Breakfast is a bit of a lottery. Shower is ok if you are not over six foot as your head will hit the ceiling. After staying in a one-star hotel in Folkestone the previous night the cleanliness of the room was... More

The room was bright, airy but very sparse, seemed more like staying in a friends newly decorated bedroom than a B&B. The bathroom was cramped, but the shower powerful and there were a good range of toileteries. The hosts were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and we were given a choice of two rooms, which was nice. Unfortunately the... More

Had a lovely room, well equipped and beautifully presented. Lots of nice little touches - fresh coffee, fridge etc. However, over a 2 night stay the room was not made up after the first night. This meant we ran out of toilet paper, and had to deal with trying to wash out cups, coffee grounds etc in the tiny bathroom.... More

Well situated (about a 5 min walk into Canterbury), friendly and relaxed B&B. Very clean room and en-suite with comfortable beds - we were in the attic which had very low ceilings, but we were well warned about that, so it didn't come as a surprise, but it wouldn't suit some people. Help yourself breakfast was good and suited us,... More

Firstly, don't expect a hotel ! It's a cross between a B&B and a self catering stop. It worked fine for us. Having driven all day from the middle of France we wanted a stop over to rest, shower and feed ! For short notice Premier Inns wanted £79. The Black Horse was £49.99 through Late rooms. Although the room... More
