It's impossible to give the Pilgrim's Hotel a simple score because, like the curate's egg, only parts of it are excellent. To start with the positive, an excellent location in the historic heart of Canterbury, very good breakfasts in a pleasant setting, good service and ample hot water. But on the negative side, the references to tired or dated decor... More

Very well positioned right in the heart of Canterbury and opposite the Marlowe Theatre. Public car parking available closeby. Lovely welcoming and helpful staff. Hotel part upstairs could do with some updating, starting with the very shabby stairs carpet. We stayed in Room 2 which is very compact. No bedside table on one side and no remote control for TV.... Stayed for 2 nights in room 3. A bit cramped with no bedside cabinet on one side of very comfortable bed. So nowhere to put book/cup of tea etc. Bathroom ok. Room was well heated . Decoration was rather outdated and no hair dryer. Internet worked sometimes. Reduced rate car parking tickets. Car park a couple of minutes walk away.... More

Overnight stay at this Hotel. We arrived early evening, the receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming. We were given a map to show where we could park our car, it was a bit on the worrying side when we didn't know the name of the car park. But we found it, and it was only a short walk from the... We stayed here, as a meeting point and made a very long weekend of it, arrived on the Thursday and left on the Monday. The staff were excellent, the food was plentiful, especially the full english cooked breakfast, stayed in the MARLOW room large comfortable four poster bed. The hotel is very centrally located for shops Museums and obviously the... More

Stayed here for 1 night in July because we were seeing Derren Brown at the Marlowe Theater literally a 10 second walk away. Just off the main street it's a great place to base yourself for a stay in Canterbury. Its a very nice and cosy old fashion pub with rooms upstairs. We had the 'Marlowe Room' with a huge... More

This hotel is centrally located, warm and cosy with a great menu and a good breakfast. Rooms are small and could do with a little upliftment but the position is great for getting out and about in Canterbury.

This hotel is ideally placed for doing everything you want in Canterbury, 20yds from the main high street, across the road from the theatre in fact everywhere is within walking distance so leave the car in the car park. I agree there are no lifts but the exercise will do you good, especially after one of their breakfasts. There is... More

Stayed here for two nights when attending a conference at the College of Creative Arts 18th-20th Aug. A traditional hotel with charm and outstanding hospitality. Breakfast was divine! Bedrooms clean and well presented. Thank you

I really liked this hotel - it is old fashioned (no lifts, quite narrow stairs and corridors) and charming (we even had a four poster bed, which was very comfy) and the location is great. It is just off Canterbury high street. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast was good. This would be great if you were on a theatre... More
