Stayed at this hotel as part of a large number of a wedding party (around 40 people). The furnishings and facilities are pretty standard for this level and type of hotel, although nothing was particularly good either. The reception staff who checked us in and all the bar staff were great but otherwise not particularly impressed. At the reception the... more

Abbots Barton is a nice hotel, lovely grounds good staff. but if your planning a 'do' there, think very carefully. My wife and I attended a 'goodbye' party for some very senior school staff. there were a hundred and fifty people there and we had a great time. the company and speeches were superb, as befits a very special occasion.... more

Stayed here for our daughter's graduation and thought the building looked pretty good from the outside. But the beds were diabolical - it was like sleeping on a table. I have never felt a bed like it and I like firm mattresses. We were there for 2 nights so were both crippled by the end of it. If you stay... more

The approach to the hotel is a good start, through attractive grounds, with a view of the original old house and its turrets and a new extension which fits in well with the old. Further extensions to provide more conference and leisure facilities are in progress. Parking is good, allowing cars to be left here to walk 10 minutes into... more

We spent two nights at the Abbots Barton and it suited us very well. The hotel is in quite a grand Victorian building which was renovated a few years ago and our room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The Abbots Barton stands in its own grounds away from the main road, so it was quiet despite being only a... more

Excellent service from the moment we checked in (2 hours early - no problem). The hotel is nicely decorated in a suitable historical theme, without being over the top. Room 203 was a bit on the small size, with a view over the back of the hotel. But as we didn't intend spending a lot of time hanging around in... more

My husband and I attended a wedding at the Abbots Barton and were completely blown away by how amazing everything was from start to finish - the function rooms, the grounds, the meal, the staff; Everything! Our room was in the original building and was beautifully decorated, the food for both the wedding and the breakfast were so good we... more

We arrived 2 hrs early for check in but they gave us our room straight away. From the minute we walked in all staff were very friendly, the maintenance guy even asked if he could help us with our bags as we had two children with us too. The room was very clean and nicely done out and was a... more

Small room but comfortable, had all that was needed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast cooked to order as well as the usual buffet. The downside - the creaky floorboards above as mentioned in other reviews and the fact there was a wedding reception disco in loud progress on the Saturday night just outside our window. We closed it and... more

We just stayed at the abbots Barton Hotel one night. We wanted something better than a B&B so we agreed to pay £110 for a double room no breakfast included. We were hoping to have a good night sleep but we could not close our eyes all night. The room 107 was just under a staircase with the noisiest floorboards... more
