We stayed there for 2 nights over the August bank holiday. I couldn't fault it. We arrived around 1pm, checked in, and left the cases at reception as the rooms are not available until 3pm. In our return the cases had been placed in the room. The rooms themselves were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. This continued during our 2... More

This hotel couldn't get any closer to the Cathedral and city centre, so is well recommended based on that alone. A very short walk from numerous pubs, shops, restaurants, and not far from local car parks either. The hotel is like a maze with rooms coming out from all angles and corridors running along roof tops, which is very cute.... More

I stayed with my boyfriend for two nights at the Cathedral Gate Hotel. We particularly loved the hotel's quirky interior, excellent location and very friendly staff. The hotel has a lovely patio area that gives on to the Cathedral where we enjoyed some morning coffee and evening drinks - you really can't beat the view! We would definitely recommend this... More

Absolutely charming hotel in the very heart of Canterbury. Spotlessly clean, comfy beds and pillows, fluffy towels and well-stocked tea/coffee making facilities. The managers really couldn't have made our stay more welcoming; storing luggage, providing a fan for the very hot weather etc etc. We had the continental breakfast (included) which was more than ample and the diners next to... Very comfortable and quirky hotel located in the centre of Canterbury. Excellent view from the roof of the Cathedral which is just behind the hotel. The room was very clean and the en-suite bathroom with shower was superb.

We wanted to stay centrally and be able to walk to most of the sites. We hoped for a view of the cathedral and a good cean hotel. This ancient hotel could not have been better. We had the room with the best view, "Joy" and although there was no shower, only a bath, it was a real treat. You... More

The hotel is situated in the buttermarket & although very busy its quite simple to pull up outside to unload & book in. We were made very welcome on arrival & given plenty of local information. The room was well situated. How ever if you want a peaceful night I would suggest a room on the cathedral side as it... More

I stayed here with my partner just for a treat back in November 2014; it's a delightful period building. We shared a bathroom but that was perfectly okay. And the price was just ridiculously cheap; we had to leave really early for work so we didn't sample any food, but really a lovely characterful little place when a lot of... More

First time in Canterbury and wow, what a a hotel, very happy that we booked a room, staff very friendly and helpful, the receptionist ( Nick I believe ) made us feel very welcomed, service here deserves 5 stars, the location is perfect and convenient, right in the center of Canterbury, thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The building is very... More

Location is perfect, in the center next to the cathedral with great views. Staff is amazing. Place has lots of character/charm, and has nice outside areas and inside lounges (with kids' toys). A la carte breakfast was pretty good too. Car parking was easy, just outside the city gates, and only GBP 2 for 16 hours (6 p.m. - 10:00... More
