Stayed here on a Saturday night for my partners birthday. Hotel staff were professional, helpful and polite. Room exceptionally clean with very comfy bed, nice duvet and comfy pillows. Bed could have been a bit bigger but that's the only minor thing. Views of the cathedral from the terrace area at the back of the hotel are stunning, especially when... More

I have just spent a night at the Cathedral Gate Hotel during a weekend sightseeing trip to Canterbury. The Hotel is old and rambling – several buildings joined together – and I had a single room on the top floor at the back, overlooking the Cathedral. My room was small but really nice - comfortable, clean, with a bed, desk... More

From the moment we arrived at this lovely hotel we were made to feel welcome. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic in telling us all about the hotel and delivered excellent customer service. The room 'Tranquility' was lovely, had everything we needed and more! A great view and a lovely comfy bed. We loved the historical feel of the place,... More

This is a lovely place to stay, with comfy, well-equipped rooms and incredibly helpful staff. Breakfast is delivered to your room on request - which you're going to want to take advantage of if you get a room with a good cathedral view. It's next-but-one to the main entrance to the cathedral so is convenient for all main sights in... More

I stayed here last night and it was a great place! Right in the centre, lovely old building - deceptively large! Clean, large room with new bathroom, power shower and 4 poster bed. Breakfast was filling (just had the continental) and service first class. Reasonably priced and even the drinks at the bar were super value! Highly recommend!

The name just tell you where to find the hotel.Do not imagine modern fancy one, think about home in front of the town square. You have the privilege of viewing the Cathedral from back of the hotel or perhaps from your room. The room with queen bed and bunk bed suit my family with 2 teens. Nice bedding and clean bathroom but a... More

I stay here once a year when in Canterbury for the Kent beer festival. Perfect location being on the doorstep of Cathedral Gate, opposite Butter Market in the heart if old Canterbury. Management and staff only too happy to help, great breakfast and very reasonably priced too! It's like going back in time with the maze of rooms, creaking corridors... More

My room was in the attic! It was a single room, you would never get a double bed in one so small. It boasted "Cathedral views" Well, I could see the towers! The building is very, very old and it was hard to find a bit of floor that was not on a slant. made one feel a bit tipsy! The... More

Stunning hotel (older than the Cathedral gate itself) run by a lovely couple whom did everything they could to make our stay memorable. Dont be put off by the shared bathrooms 9I must admit, I was a little when I read about it) but the bathrooms have just be redone and are stunning (The one on the top floor facing... More

We had a very pleasant stay at the Cathedral Gate hotel for two nights in July. We were in the "Joy" room which has amazing views of the cathedral, which is right opposite. The room has not yet been refurbished but was nevertheless clean, with a comfy double bed and en suite bathroom. There were the usual amenities in the... More
