Stayed 1 night. Booked in by a fairly flippant and overly forward young man who seemed to be a student earning a few pounds for evening work and not a full time employee caring about the hotels image. We were not expecting too much for the price but the room was very, very small and there was very little space... More

hotel does what it says on the tin. Perfect location in the heart of the City. Nice room very comfortable bed and good shower. The hotel staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The building itself is VERY quirky, up and down all different levels but we loved it and would recommend it to anyone.

What a gorgeous place to stay. This hotel feels really intimate and peaceful even though it's in a very busy location. Lovely view of the cathedral and great to hear the bell-ringers practising. The room was really comfortable with simple luxury for a very happy visit!

I booked to stay here for 1 night, a Friday. I paid £49.50 for a single room with shared facilities. The room I got was at the front of the building, the opposite side to the Cathedral view. I was a little worried when I saw I'd been provided with earplugs but thankful I got a decent nights sleep. It... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us. The hotel does have different room types and we hope that you feel that the £49.50 you paid for a room in Canterbury on a Friday night represented good value for money. Some of the single rooms have wonderful Cathedral views but these do... More

As always we consult Trip Adviser. It recommended the Cathedral Gate hotel. Why pay for a four star hotel when this three star hotel is as good and better than many four star ones? You cannot eat (except for breakfast) there but then there are so many wonderful restaurants to choose from in Canterbury. The room was comfortable and clean.... More

This place is quite hard to find on a dark evening, you can walk past it several times without realising! As the building will be covered by conservation restrictions, the rooms are quite low ceilings and small, but that's part of the character. I stayed in a room where you had to walk over the roof by the Cathedral to... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay with us in October last year. We are indeed a small, independent hotel. Whilst the building has often been described as quirky, it is the first time that that adjective has been applied to myself and my staff! I am concerned by your comments regarding the breakfast... Our stay at this hotel was to celebrate 50 years together, so it was important that we had a memorable break away. We cannot praise the service we received and the comfort of our room highly enough! The building is very old, full of character and charm and centrally situated as it overlooks the Cathedral precincts. We were even lucky... More

Stayed here for one night in the Augustan room. Fantastic room very spacious and spotless as was the bathroom/shower in fact everything you'd need in a room. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was amazing, fruit toast cereal croissants more than adequate. Will definitely be returning.

Stayed for a couple of nights as I was fencing at the University. Hotel was easy to find and very central. Was able to leave my bags before check in and found them in my room after being given a nice guided tour of the place. Nice views of the cathedral from the back, especially lit up at night. My...
