I had the pleasure of staying at the Cathedral Gate Hotel for my birthday recently and I'm so glad I did! We were greeted warmly and upon making use of the parking voucher, (£6 for 24 hours, not bad!) we were ready to make the most of this beautiful City! We were met by a friendly Gentleman who provided us... More

My parents stayed here whilst visiting me at uni. They loved it - very charming interior, staff are friendly and helpful, obviously an incredible location. Walking over the roofs backing onto the cathedral to get to the room was quite magical!

I chose this location because it was economical and looked very central. Eventually...it could not be mor ecentral, just two steps away for Cathedral's entrance! The hotel is lovely and you can see the grand church for the hotel windows. It may be a bit noisy outside (as the hotel is surrounded by pubs and I stayed at a weekend)... More

What a charm! I spent the night last night and it was superb. The hotel is is in the center of Canterbury in fact its so close to the cathedral you are in the grounds! I was in the Daybreak room and had a fantastic view of the cathedral. The room is very clean and the bed is comfortable. The... More

Access is quite tricky but once you arrive by car you have about 20 minutes to check in etc. Parking voucher and parking were straightforward and reasonably priced for a city. Stayed in a triple (Augustan) which was warm and comfy and overlooked the street but no discernible noise whatsoever. Some maintenance taking place during our stay but this was... More

Never stayed in this hotel before, but have to say I will be staying here again if/when I come back to Canterbury! I was staying with 2 other friends and this hotel was the only one who accommodated 3 people sharing in a room. Well, within walking distance of town anyway. So that was a really big help and they... I stayed in this hotel when I first moved to Canterbury as I was flat-hunting. It was very reasonably priced and is in a great location in the center of Canterbury. The breakfast was wonderful, the rooms fabulous (decor, facilities, cleanliness, comfort, etc...) and the staff more than welcoming. Highly recommended.

The old cliche 'the only regret was leaving' has never been truer. From the outside this places looks unassuming. Once inside however you begin to get a feel for the place. It's old. Really old. It overlooks the cathedral and has as much history oozing through it. The welcome was warm and personable. The room (oh my goodness) LUXURY! This... More

Just had one night in Canterbury - anxious to see the cathedral - and booked late. When I arrived, the very pleasant receptionist kindly switched me to another more appropriate room. A truly lovely hotel, welcoming staff, perfect location (as the name suggests - it's right in the gate to the cathedral) and the front overlooks the preaching cross and... More

Me and my mum traveled down to Canterbury for a uni interview. We loved the room! The hotel is a bit of a maze to get around due to doors leading outside, hidden staircases and dead end hallways but this adds to the charm of the very old building! The 4 poster bed was the comfiest bed we had ever... More
