Rotten smell in the incredibly tiny/dark room above the bar (which is noisy until the early hours). Night staff lied about noise when I complained and blamed a pub next door to the hotel?! (Odd) Shower blocked. Staff average. Breakfast OK. 50% refund...not enough. Would never stay here again.

If you like your hotels a la Premier Inn then don't visit the Falstaff Hotel. And you will have missed a real treat. Some reviewers have complained about dust, in need of refurb, etc. For heaven's sake this is (mainly) a 15th Century building!! If you prefer loads of character and a very restful hotel, with parking, close to Canterbury... More

Stayed two years in a row for me and my partners anniversary, all lovely staff, stunning superior rooms, good parking, helpful receptionist who told us the best places to eat and drink, scrummy full English breakfast, very clean bathroom. Don't stay anywhere else in Canterbury this place is classy and clean! And we got an email with a 10% off... More

This is a fun old place - we were in the back building which had been redone recently. Plenty of room for clothes storage (it is usually so lacking in English hotels and B&Bs), big bathroom well appointed, comfortable. Good parking available -for a price. Breakfast was delicious. All in all, we really enjoyed it. Would return next time we... More

An excellent location for seeing the sights of Canterbury. Good resident parking, nice room especially ours at the back where there was no noise from the roads, good breakfast and good staff. I was disappointed with the restaurants in Canterbury but I'm sure this would have been solved by doing some research first.

We are local residents of Canterbury and stayed for one night last week. Room was very cosy, bathroom in great need of decorating, tiles looked grubby and curtains look very dated (1980's). Beautiful old building but in our opinion in great need of a refurb. Breakfast was very nice, buffet style with a great selection. Very friendly, professional staff.

Weekend visit to Canterbury for leisure and stayed at the Falstaff hotel. Very nice, oldie worldie hotel, cheerful and helpful staff, clean and comfortable single room and excellent location with the added bonus of a parking space. Just 5 minutes from the Cathedral and all the other sights of Canterbury. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again if visiting... More

Hotel was wonderful and just what we had hoped for in making the booking. Reception staff were helpful and welcoming, rooms were clean and comfortable albeit not the largest! Bathroom was fine with decent shower. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and good quality. Only let down was the lack of service from the bar, after waiting for more than... More

Dear SandyHd, Thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the opportunity to pass on your thoughts. I am very sorry the duty manager was called away from the bar for so long. It is very uncommon that this would happen. I am delighted however you found everything else enjoyable and we very much hope we have... More

Stayed for a long weekend, as it had two rooms that we needed. Although the booking site (Venere.com) said it had twin and double rooms available, it wouldn't let us book one of each, so booked 2 doubles. But after contacting the hotel I got a call 3 days before travelling that two single rooms were available, so we swapped... More
