Called to book a room was advised to book on booking.com as you get a 10%, went on there and no rooms! Called back to book over the phone but would not give the discount spoke to the front of house managed and the general manager and got fobbed off! Rude staff stay away!!

Dear Josephj510, Thank you for your comments. I am sorry to hear you felt let down despite the best efforts of the team. We do strive to accommodate all requests where possible but a discount on our last available room was not possible. The majority of feedback we receive however does mention the friendliness of the staff; again I am... More

We stayed one night and found the staff very polite and knowledgable . The room we had was in the old part of the house and was full of character. Breakfast was very nice with a great choice . Amazing value and would have no hesitation of staying again and recommending to others.

Great stay in very old hotel dating back many centuries. Despite very squeaky floor boards from the 15th century, the rest of the room was modern and fully functioning, with double glazing stopping the draught from the quaint 100 year old windows. Lovely cooked breakfast started the day well. Very good location, just a short walk from the cathedral and... More

We always stay at this charming period hotel when we visit Canterbury. The location is great, near the Westgate so just a short walk to the main centre and a good car park - which is a necessity for Canterbury! The service is excellent with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The buffet breakfast is very good and eggs can be... More

Excellent period hotel - ideal as a base for exploring Canterbury. Breakfast only - which is excellent - but plenty of places to eat nearby. Ideal for reps who need an overnight stay and a hearty breakfast.

I was in canterbury for a very short time and stayed at this hotel for one night only. But I really loved the hotel. Excellent location, great interiors, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet options, free Wifi. I was also allowed to store my luggage for free as I had a meeting in the morning and had no place to keep... More

Brilliant location. Very friendly and willing staff, if a little out of their depth and understaffed when hotel full. Sadly typical of this genre of English hotels - stuck in 70s and in desperate need of some tlc and updating. Canterbury seems sadly lacking in city centre hotels so this is not a bad option - cheaper than Abode and... More

Had a great two nights at this hotel - we had booked in double room and another room for my mother who was in a wheelchair. Because of accessibility we were in the main hotel and my mum was in the annex on the ground floor - rooms were very clean and in the older part of the building if... More

Stayed overnight after a performance at the Marlowe Theatre. This place looks the part: originally a 15th century coaching inn, it is clearly part of the historical fabric of this beautiful city. The location is perfect...walking distance from the Canterbury West railway station, and even closer to the city centre, Marlowe theatre and the Cathedral. The interior decor is in... More
