A group of 3 of us stayed in one of the new log cabins for a night following a few drinks at the Kent Beer Festival. We had "Frodo's Lodge" which is the middle cabin and it was absolutely superb! When we arrived the receptionist was very helpful, checked us in quickly and sorted out payment for breakfast in the... More

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying for three nights at the Canterbury YHA, in one of their cabins: simple wooden huts located behind the main building. Our cabin was extremely peaceful and comfortable and included its own loo, shower and basic kitchen facilities (fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities). Everything worked as it should, there was ample... More

Very convenient for city centre & easy to get to. Lovely building. Room comfortable & well equipped. We found it odd that there was no washbasin in the toilet cubicle - you had to go to the other end of the 6 bed room to reach that. We were really impressed by the breakfast - lots of choice; so decided... More

Thanks to a strike in Calais, my group and I were held up one extra day in Britain with no place to sleep. Fortunately, the good ladies from YHA South Downs used their magic wands to book us night at the YHA Canterbury, which turned out to be one of the best places we've ever stayed at with a group... Although this hostel is a fair walk from the city centre it is one to be proud of and has had a lot of money spent on it lately. In the basement is a large kitchen area and at the back some spare ground, although there have recently been three Hobbit houses built that each hold five people - they... More

We stayed with a couple of mates for a long weekend. The facilities were very good: lots of kitchen space, for instance, so that cooking was fun. Rooms recently refurbished and very clean. We even had an ensuite! Nice lounge too. It's only a few minutes walk into town.

Definitely one of the better hostels out there in the UK. I had a good stay while visiting and exploring Canterbury. The rooms are all to a high standard as the old building its in has been refurbished recebtly. Bunk beds comfortable, though rooms are on the small side. Bathrooms and showers were clean. The guy at reception was friendly... More

LOVED my experience at YHA Canterbury. I stayed there in May 2014 (sorry for the late review!) and had a great time. This hostel has recently been completely renovated with brand new, modern amenities, yet it retains the historical building (so pretty on the outside). The staff was helpful and friendly, the beds were comfortable, and the showers/bathrooms are super... More

We stayed here in April and booked a family room without bathroom and it was very spacious, clean and all beds made which makes such a difference after a long journey. Would thoroughly recommend as the staff were very helpful and polite, nice breakfast in bright dining room and not too much noise from other guests (considering our room was... More

We stayed two nights, one in one of the lodges and one in the hostel itself. The former is brilliant but be warned the two top banks are too close to the ceiling for adults.. Otherwise lovely accommodation including a fridge, kettle and ensuited bathroom. The kids absolutely loved it! The hostel room was OK, but a bit grubby....showers were... More
