We stayed here for two nights last week and found the hostel excellent value. Having not stayed in any Youth Hostel for many years I was apprehensive when a relative booked us in. However, it was excellent. Very clean, warm, good food and very helpful staff. Location good too, being only about a ten minute walk into Canterbury.

The place is conveniently located at a 10mn's walk from the cathedral (5mns to St Augustine's Abbey), and it has a small free parking lot. Every convenience is nearby : local buses and coaches stop 50m up the road, and there is a small Sainsbury's next street, and bigger Tesco's & Waitrose less than 5 mns away. There's even a... More

Opened in 2013, this hostel is both enormous and very well run. The employees are extremely nice and very helpful. The cost to stay here was low, and I was able to book a room and pay online. The big caveats I have are that the wifi is not free and apparently costs a lot if you are not a... More

The Hostel was refurbished recently - and a very good job was done there! The colourfulness (even in bathrooms) makes the whole building very special and pleasant. Of course, the old building itself has its own charm, but the colours make it a nice combination of old and new. Perhaps only the carpets in the bedrooms were not a particularly... More

I've stayed at several hostels and generally the management is very good. Martin Gardiner the Manager at Canterbury however just did that little extra for the guests from taking their luggage upstairs, serving drinks into the lounge, personally showing guests the route to the garden and ensuring the space of the small carpark is maximised to its capacity so guests... It's a very lovely place - near a pub and a Sainsbury's in one end, half an hour into the town on the other end. Part from if you are walking from Canterbury West train station might be a bit far (not so much for the East station), it is generally lovely. Also I have had one of the best... More

We used this as an overnight stopover from the Channel Tunnel - only 20 mins away via B2068 - and for that it was perfect. Finding a family room for five in a hotel is often quite difficult, so getting a room for six was ideal for us. The building has recently been refurbished so the facilities are very good... More

Came here from the other hostel in town. Interior is very nice looking, though it seems to carry a religious theme which I didn't appreciate. The female dorm room is on the top floor which many stairs up, so be warned. It has a sink in the room, 2 lockers (tho there's 4 beds) and mirrors (bring your own lock).... More

Thank you very much for your valued feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay in our Hostel. The Hostel has been recently refurbished, restoring many of our original Victorian Gothic Villa features, as is typical to this area – we are sorry if you interpreted these to represent a religious theme as this certainly wasn’t the intention. We have... More

Canterbury YHA is in an interesting old mansion on the Dover road, just outside Canterbury. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard (I understand over £500,000 was spent). Rooms are 4-6 person side with comfortable bunk beds. Some have en-suite shower rooms. Beds are made up for you now with luxurious duvets and comfortable pillows. The hostel is... More

When visiting the scene of Murder at the Cathedral why not stay overnight at the Y.H.A. situated in the beautiful Kent countryside A twenty minute walk from the coach and railway station is the hostel in an old house full of character. There is a large car park to the front of the building and gardens to the rear. The... More

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We do have 8 out of 15 ensuite rooms available and 2-beds and 4-beds can be hired privately. With notice we can allocate lower bedrooms for dormitory users. We are dissapointed that your rating is not higher and hope to see you again so that we can work to improve this. Kind... More
