Good value superior room as included breakfast for two; fantastic location and own car park through archway to back (not civic multi-storey a walk away!). Bar ( open to street public, doh) and traditional restaurant down stairs (yey). Bed in our room was fantastic (almost as good as at home!) but decor/ furnishings, clean but somewhat dated with 70s ish... More

I had a meal with friends in Tudors restaurant at the hotel a few days ago and can honestly say it is worth a visit. The food came hot and generous portions, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere especially with the real log fire was enjoyable. I will be visiting again.

It was a quiet Saturday in Jan 2015, the staff at the WHH were extremly helpful and efficient. For mains we had the blade of beef with mash and the linguine with prawns and scallops for and shared the peanut butter parfait with the salted caramel ice cream. After a glass of wine and a coffee each and a £40... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a superior room, which was a bit small but that did not matter as we were in a very old building with slopping floors, walls and ceilings. The room had a large recently refurbished bathroom. with a large bath and a large walk-in shower. I was able to enjoy the bath in... More

We were booked for a tour of St Albans Abbey, but needed a quick lunch beforehand . When we entered and asked if they could accommodate our party of 7 for lunch , a rather surly young man asked abruptly if we had booked- despite a number of empty tables, he had to consult his computer before rather grudgingly said... We stayed in this very old coaching inn in the centre of St Albans just a stones throw from the city centre shops between Christmas and New Year this year. We were visiting family so needed somewhere central to stay where we could take our dog with us. As mentioned in previous reviews, we were asked for payment up front... More

The family of five showed up for two nights, two adults three little ones. Lots of excitement (heading to the Harry Potter Studio Tour on day 1 of 2 day stay). First things first, before checking in at reception....please pay the bill. OK, but could we go up to the room first? No, please could you pay the bill, this... More

We certainly do not pretend to be a 5* hotel. We are content to be rated at 3* and our prices reflect this. We only have two rooms that can hold 5 people. Most hotels would require that you book at least two rooms for this number of people. We are certainly not expensive compared with the other hotels in... More

We celebrated my husbands 60th birthday here on Christmas Eve. We had private dining and there were 33 of us. We were extremely pleased from start to finish with the whole experience. The owner did us proud. The dining room looked amazing and the owner let me add my own touches. Great room for private entertaining. Thanks for helping to... More

Each year very near Christmas, we plan a family day trip to a Cathedral City, Today we visited St Albans and after visiting the Christmas Market in the Cathedral grounds we decided to look for somewhere to eat. Just a few minutes from the Cathedral is The White Hart Hotel and Restaurant. It is a very traditional historic building with... More

The hotel was built in the15th century and is oozing with character. Nice cosy atmosphere, friendly staff. But a burglar climbed in through the bathroom window he was shocked to see me in the room and fled. Apart from the intruder every thing was fine
