If, like me, you enjoy Afternoon Tea, need a gluten free option and are considering booking St Michael's Manor you may want to re-consider. Firstly, the good bit: St Michael's Manor is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting - ideal for Afternoon Tea on a fine sunny afternoon (which is why I booked it for me and three friends... More

Stayed here on the 23rd August 2014 for one night, picked this hotel as it was in good location and as we was going to the Harry potter studios the next day only 8miles away seemed perfect. When we arrived reception staff were helpful and check in was quick, room was lovely and spacious and clean!!! Food was average and... More

I booked this hotel as a stop over after a long touring holiday and wished I had booked for longer. Set in the centre of St Albans but in a quiet tranquil setting the experience was worthwhile. The receptionist changed my room when she realised the stairs might be a problem. Afternoon tea is served and is well supported by... More

Hotel is just a stones throw from the town, which has many pubs and restaurants. We found the cost of the drinks very expensive, hence going into town for a drink. The building is set in beautiful grounds and the hotel itself is clean and very old style charm, but is tastefully decorated with modern style blending together very well.... More

Admittedly this was a business trip on a Sunday evening, but rated against the number of hotels I've stayed in, this was excellent. Yes, more expensive, but not massively so, and worth it. Old style with charm and a mix of period (bedrooms) and modern fittings (bathroom & air-con) and decent WiFi. Nice touch - proper filter coffee option in... More

Stayed here through a six week period. Travelling to North London for work. Surrounded by lovely gardens and a small lake in the tranquil area of St Albans down Fishpool Street. Ample parking, 20 mins fast walk to station that gets you into central London in 20 mins. Restaurant and bar great for dinner on return from London. Plenty of... More

Thank you for your review and indeed highlighting our perfect location to commute into London yet still enjoying the countryside and beautiful city of St Albans. We enjoy being a quintessentially English manor house hotel dating back many years although this does come with drawbacks in that we are not permitted to have a lift at the hotel. We do... More

I had dinner with four of my friends in the conservatory a couple of nights ago. This is a beautiful place with wonderful surroundings. The presentation of the food was excellent and the food in general was pretty good. I had the pork dish and the pork was a bit on the tough side. The lemon meringue dessert was fantastic.... More

We came here for my husbands 30th birthday, and I couldn't fault it, the location is beautiful and peaceful, the mulberry room was so lovely and the bed was super comfy, we slept like logs! Friendly staff, and best best best of all we had two evening meals there and it was probably some of the best food we've ever... More

We had our wedding at St Michaels Manor on the 12th June 2014. We had an amazing day, the staff were very professional and helpful. Our wedding co-ordinator was Lucy Judge and did a great job of making the day run smoothly. We had our ceremony in the Cedar suite, it is a good room for a smaller wedding. The... More

My partner and I attended a wedding and reception at the venue. The grounds are spectacular and the venue itself is glorious. The reception staff were friendly and our room was superb. Food and service was outstanding. Definitely going to go back!
