We stayed here as we were visiting family who live a few minutes away, so for us the location was great - generally for access to St Albans its a pretty good location. The rooms are ok - old fashioned decor with tea/coffee facilities, TV, hairdryer, trouser press, wardrobe, ensuite bathroom with basic toilettries. The problem is that the walls... more

Recently stayed at the Ardmore Hotel, I recieved a warm welcome. The staff were very helpful. I stayed in a recently refurbished room, which was very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my meal in the Belvedere Restaurant which was good value for money. The Breakfast was freshly cooked and set me up for the day. Overall my stay was very... more

We stayed here for one night has we were attending a function in the attached Belvedere Restaurant. Upon arrival we waited at the Reception for 10 minutes before we were checked in, several people walked passed us and said Hello but no one actuallyasked us if we were being attended to. Eventually the Reception clerk who was sat in the... more

Have stayed in far better youth hostels at a fraction of this price - a complete rip-off for over £80pn. Would have had a much better nights sleep if we'd have stayed at home. The mattress was so hard and uncomfortable that we had to sleep on top of the spare pillows. Miniscule bathroom. Marks on the bed sheets. Lots... more

We stayed here two nights in August 2008 to attend a wedding nearby. We felt we were inconveniencing the staff. Only one towel was provided for two people and upon asking for another towel, we were given the third degree. The shower head kept falling off its holder, and hit me in the head!! Ouch!! Breakfast was greasy and poorly... more

My Partner and I stayed overnight. The bedroom was situated away from the main part of the Hotel but was no problem to get to. You are given your own keys to the main door, so no worries about getting back in the early hours. The room itself was small and basic but clean. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable, I... more

We stayed here for one night, for business. The hotel is within walking distance of St Albans train station, with good links to London, there is also parking at the hotel. That's the best thing l can say about the hotel really. The decor is very dated, the TV is tiny and you can barely see it from the bed,... more

Found the Ardmore by chance 3 years ago, in May of 2005. We have returned 5 times, staying on 2 weekends of each trip. We use St Albans as a weekend destination. We travel further into other European cities in the middle of the week during our 10-12 night vacations. We find that the Ardmore's location is perfect, walking distance... more

All the features of a poor quality hotel: thin and scratchy towels, poor quality shower, toiletries in a sachet (one sachet of shower gel for two people), small television - I could go on. The staff were pleasant enough and the room was clean but this is an operation that is, as it were, highly sensitive to costs. For this... more

When visiting my dad in St. Albans (my hometown), I had booked a self catring establishment (178 London Road), which let us down and bumped us off. We were not amused after a 10hrs flight. We started phoning around. Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for the hotels, St. Albans is an extremly popular town, whether for tourism, business or just... more
