We stayed for a Saturday night due to it's location being close to a friends anniversary celebration. It is full of character, well maintained and very well cleaned. Our room was small but well proportioned and had everything you need for and overnight stay. Bed was a bit springy but more comfortable than I expected. Breakfast was very good -... More

We visited this lovely old inn in September and had a lovely stay. The reception was fabulous as was our room at the rear of the hotel. It was very quiet and the church bells that had initially worried us during the day were not a problem at night! There was a high standard of cleanliness and having been informed... More

Stayed for a few nights in September, and we were very pleased with this hotel. It was a bit quirky, but in a nice way. There is no lift, which some might find a drawback. However, we were very comfortable in our room, and were not much troubled with street noise in the night. The beds were also comfortable, and... More

We stayed her for two nights last weekend. Externally it’s a quaint, pargetted old coaching inn, beset with lovely hanging baskets: internally it is also very olde worlde, with beams and crooked walls and stuff like that. Our first impression, though, was disappointing. On arrival, the receptionist let us stand there whilst she finished her conversation with another member of... More

Have had Sunday lunch there over the summer and have found both the food and service to be first class. Only minor gripe the desserts could be larger but overall one of the best restaurants in Hertford.

Good location in centre of Hertford. Nice hotel but decor is very dreary and gloomy. We appreciate it's history but the front bar in particular is very dark and uninviting. Staff were ok but lacked any real customer service. We stayed here for bank holiday weekend when the town hosts its musical mystery tour. We returned to the hotel at... More

I stayed here recently for a wedding being held nearby. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well decorated. The breakfast was very tasty. It's got off street parking for guests which is handy. I didn't have a drink or eat dinner but the bar looked friendly and the hotel is attractive with beams and oak.... More

Our sat nav brought us to within a few yards of the hotel but the wrong side of a No Entry sign. After a scenic tour of the town centre we finally approached from the right direction and found the Salisbury's good sized car park (which is at the end of a side street a short walk from the hotel)..... I stayed in this lovely hotel with my family for a night as we were attending a party near the area. The staff at the reception were very nice and kind and even helped us with directions. The rooms were cosy, comfortable and clean, i couldnt complain about anything in the room at all! I was also very impressed with... More

We arrived for a birthday lunch using the Salisbury's excellent offer of a bottle of wine. We were served promptly and efficiently with a smile. The food was tasty and the helpings plentiful. The surroundings are pleasantly olde-worlde. We were not rushed, and it was lucky we weren't driving after the wine! Finally, the toilets are spotless. Many thanks.
