The hotel is well past its best on appearance but don't let that put you off. The room we stayed in was large with a pretty comfortable bed to sleep in and above all else it was clean. The parking can be hot and miss and we had to stay in the ncp as the hotel one was full. The... More

The Garrick serves as a resident's lounge, offering sofa's, hot drinks and snack and a limited lunchtime menu. They provide very generous portions, and the food we had (chicken risotto and moules mariniere) was tasty. It seems to be a place where senior citizens drop in for a drink, teacake, drop scone or sandwich. Some of them drop off too,... More

As others have mentioned, the decor and fittings are tired and in need of a facelift but it is a really nice old fashioned hotel and very good value. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are a good size and the bed was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. The buffet dinner, whilst... More

An imposing name and building, this Victorian-style hotel is situated right at the heart of the charming and old-fashioned town of Hereford. It was probably a highlight at its top, and you can still see glimpses of grandeur here. But the hotel is not very well-kept. Painting are coming off the walls, Furniture needs renewal, carpets look well-used. I Guess... More

Whilst I didn't stay in this hotel personally, I did organise a group booking for some of my family a few weeks back. So speaking on behalf of those who stayed, clean specious rooms, friendly staff and breakfast was plentiful.I had to phone the hotel several times whilst organising the booking and always found the staff very helpful. We will... More

If you want slick and modern don't stay here. But if you enjoy a bit of faded gentility a fabulous lounge, large and well proportioned rooms this is for you. Our room, on the second floor, was comfortable and the bed was excellent in every way. Recommended as a getaway from chain hotels.

Stayed as a couple, was not sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews. Quite a grand entrance with reception, reception staff very helpful and friendly. We were on the first floor, noise level was medium, not too bad. The bedroom had a very lumpy uncomfortable bed, it felt like a water bed you just sank to the... More

I was here yesterday evening attending a private dancing event in what should have been the best equipped room in the hotel. The wooden floor had obviously cracked in various areas and it was mended with silver gaffer tape! The anteroom to the toilets, were the ladies were supposed to get changed, had a filthy carpet and a wannabe decadent... More

This has the feel of a hotel from a different era. Grand rooms, splendid stairs, magnificent panelled restaurant, a residents' lounge, location 100 yards from the cathedral. A nice friendly staff look after the guests, breakfast is ok, rooms are comfy if a little tattered. Not recommended if you're after super-modern quality, highly recommended if you want old fashioned character... More
