The staff were very welcoming and friendly on our arrival and throughout our short stay. Our room (Osborne & Little) which overlooked the cathedral was spacious, elegantly furnished, extreamely comfortable. Room service was excellent and the breakfast was superbly prepared and presented. The downstairs bar was very cosy and welcoming (no loud music here), with sandwiches and cream teas being... more

Unconventional hotel: pub & restaurant downstairs with a few bedrooms above. We had a beautiful large room (Zoffany), with big bathroom. Lovely bed, beautiful antique furniture. Everything was perfect. The restaurant food was very good. Breakfast in bed - at no extra charge - was excellent. Location is perfect too - just opposite the cathedral. Parking is on road -... more

We stayed in the Osborne and Little room for 2 nights after we got married in Winchester. I hadn't seen the room before (although my new husband had and promised I would be blown away!) I was overwhelmed, truly a beautiful room to stay in - I did actually cry a little when I first walked in (OK, it had... more

We spent one night here at the start of a cycling trip on a DB&B deal. They very kindly upgraded us once they knew we were cycling and a bath would be most welcome. Helpfully stored our bikes. The Nina Campbell room was beautiful. Fabulous eveing meal and a lovely touch of breakfast in your room which as you have... more

We stayed for 2 nights in the Osborne & Little room, following our wedding reception hoping for a chance to relax and be looked after before flying off to Italy. The Old Vine delivered on every count and wholly exceeded our expectations. Fantastic, unobtrusive and excellent service, an exceptional Sunday evening meal, the most delicious scrambled egg, and luxury all... more

We stayed at the Old Vine on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The check-in (via the main bar) was quick and efficient. The confirmation had already advised the parking permit arrangements for guests with cars. The size of the room was wonderful - with 2 large sash windows, separate breakfast table, couch and footstools facing the TV in addition... more

The Old Vine is in a superb location opposite the Cathedral and green. It is a unique mixture of lively pub/bar, high-quality, informal restaurant, and luxurious, traditional rooms. Food excellent and well-priced. Accommodation first-class. Highly recommended. Staff attentive and efficient. more

The Old Vine is a c. 15th Century Inn that has been recently refurbished. I have been staying there on and off for the past six months (about 30 nights so far). They have 5 rooms all decorated using materials from big name dinners. The rooms are unique and include one with two double beds! Breakfast is included and is... more
