This hotel was the location for my younger brother's wedding. The hotel management and staff could not have done more to make the wedding weekend a memorable occasion from beginning to end. The venue was magnificent and the marquee that was erected in the hotel grounds was ideal. The food all weekend was well presented and very tasty. The hotel... More

Great location. Lovely room although cramped. Fabulous bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Staff young and very friendly. Only criticism was noise. Our room was above the kitchens and there was a lot of banging and crashing until quite late. But overall a nice place to stay

Went for a family meal to celebrate various events. Whilst I cannot fault the food which was excellent I was very disappointed with the service. Having to remind staff that only half the people on the table had received their meal was not my idea of service. The table we were shown to was too small for more than four... More

We were looking for somewhere not too far from London as we were leaving our 18 month year old with grandparents and dont want to be too far away. It was also to celebrate my wife's significant birthday. We chose a Garden room was, which was very comfortable. It was also quiet and very close to the main restaurant and... More

Our first visit back to HdV for several years.....but I'm not sure we'd go again in a hurry. The staff are excellent and the service was great for a busy Saturday night. Sadly the menu doesn't do the place justice, It isn't nearly interesting enough even for 'bistro' food with prices that demand much better quality of food. - the... More

I have been a fan of hotel du vin for many years, but this is the second meal in a month where it has felt very overpriced. The food is of bistro quality but the decor has seen better days and they are trading on the brand... Others offer better value

We had a great stay here for my birthday weekend: very polite staff; helpful service; decent location; good breakfast; and comfortable-enough room (if slightly gaudily-furnished). I do, however, think the hotel is overpriced. This may be to do with rates in Winchester generally, but you can stay at higher-quality hotels elsewhere for a comparable price.

I stopped using this group of hotels a couple of years ago - the holding company MBW was having problems with its bankers - accountants, rather than hoteliers or restaurateurs, we clearly managing the brand and it showed. Move forward - the group goes into administration and quickly comes out the other side having been acquired by KSL. Now much... More

Located in a wonderful position in this lovely city. We had an overnight stop at the hotel and opted for the Dinner, B&B option. Check in was good and we were shown to a great room with a decent bathroom. Nespresso machine and capsules in the room, a nice touch along with the usual tea and coffee-making facilities. We had... I have already stayed in the Winchester Hotel, in the Winchester Mercure and Norton Park, but HDV is the best among them by far. Location is perfect to explore Winchester (restaurants, pubs, shops and the cathedral) and hotel is charming with spacious rooms. What could be better: 1. Service at breakfast is a bit late and irregular 2. Food is... More
