This is the third HdV we have stayed at and we were disappointed. Our room was large but we felt there was something missing, there was easily enough room for a sofa but instead there was a large empty space. The floor was carpeted but the floorboards creaked so noisily in every part of the room that it annoyed us.... more

I have stayed at the hotel several times over the past year and value its convenient location. The downside is the noise from the road which I could hear from every room I have stayed in but is particularly bad at the front. Some of the staff are very helpful but some are not. The room decor is quite masculine... more

stayed in early May. booked the £145 dinner bed and breakfast deal. the bistro is really nice - a good selection on the menu and good service. room was a little small, though the bath was massive! we were on the side away from the road, though the road would still be noisy if you had the window open. parking... more

Very nice hotel, rooms named after Champagnes, we were in the Veuve Clicquot room (which by coincidence is Madam's favourite) but it was on the road side and we like to sleep with the window open so if you want a quiet room or sleep with the window open then ask for a room at the back. Bistro looks nice... more

this is a beautiful 18th century house with just 24 rooms, in the centre of this historic city. We were upgraded on arrival to a quiet garden room, one of just 3 in the quaint rear gardens of the hotel. Lovely sized room and large comfy bed. Great big bathroom, massive bath and monsoon shower. There were nice touches in... more

We visited for a one night stay to see around Winchester and chose the Hotel du Vin as the safe option for a relaxing stay. There are many positives about the place - and I will start with these. The hotel is in two townhouses and is relatively small - so has that personal feel. We had the Laroche room... more

A great stay in a classy hotel. The location is great, with lots of restaurants within a short walking distance. We had a garden room with its own patio/seating area which felt very private with the well positioned plants. The room was very comfy and spacious, but could benefit from another armchair or sofa instead of the single armchair. We... more

We enjoyed our stay with the Hotel, and the breakfast and evening meal - included in the really reasonable price - were absolutely wonderful. First class service, and a very ambient environment, very clean and interestingly furnished, and absolutely talented and excellent chefs, and a great menu choice. We did find, however, that the checking-in process was less than desirable... more

This hotel is small but perfectly formed. It's luxurious without being snooty. We had a lovely room - Pommery - with a very comfortable bed and big bathroom. Wonderfully enormous bath too that took about 5 seconds to run. The building is beautiful and we particularly loved the little central garden which is a haven of peace. All very comfortable,... more

If you are looking for a trusted hotel in which to spend a weekend in Winchester then look no further than the Hotel du Vin. This is one of its flagship hotels and whilst certain areas could do with a bit of a revamp, the hotel is clean and the rooms cosy. We didn't manage to sample the full delights... more
