I stayed at the hotel for one night, Saturday April 5th. Not a good start, arriving around 17.30 to find one guest unable to check out due to card terminal not working. Receptionist very pleasant and welcoming. Given the Meerlust room which was ok, but suprisingly at that time, shower temperature was tepid. Waited in very small bar for friends... more

Various members of our family booked various parts of a surprise party and overnight stay at Hotel du Vin and we could not have been more impressed. The staff we had most dealings with - Stefan and Holly - are both an absolute credit to the hotel - Stefan even taking group photos for us from half way up the... more

Excellent hotel right in the middle of town but tucked away so no drunken fights in the street outside. Fantastic staff & rooms and the restaurant is exceptional. We stayed here for an anniversary and were not dissapointed. Could not recommend highly enough. more

I booked this hotel as a birthday surprise for my fiance, and I would absolutely reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants a romantic getaway. I had booked it on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, however with all the little extras added on (wine with the meal, service charge with dinner, plus we opted for mains that weren't on... more

Wanted a night in Winchester and to try another Hotel du Vin - so pleased to be able to combine them! Also happy to find that they do take single night bookings at the weekend - as many hotels now seem to have a 'two night minimum' Had the Courvoisier room - sold as a 'bit special' - and it... more

We stayed at this hotel with the previous reviewer. We were similarly disappointed with the condition of the air conditioning in the room and the fact that the windows barely opened six inches. This made the room very stuffy and we found it hard to sleep. Our friends paid extra for a 'luxury room' (Brown Brothers) although there was very... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night. It was perfectly situated in the centre of Winchester, with beautiful gardens to the rear. We paid extra for a luxury room. However, we were very disappointed. The room was very small and the electric and air conditioning didn't work properly. This caused problems as the room was far too warm and... more

Stayed here last week for two nights while on business. I had a lovely room with a real fireplace and the quirks of an old house converted into a hotel. Food wonderful - as always at HdV and staff really attentive THe reason for saying the Hotel was patchy was that colleagues of mine were not so luck in their... more

We stayed at the Hotel du Vin as a surprise for my birthday. We were in the main house (very grand) in Courvoisier which overlooks the walled garden. It was very light, bright and airy with a roll top bath at the end of the bed. A huge bed, all the bits and pieces you might want (including an embarassing... more

Hotel du Vin is in a great location near the historic centre of Winchester. I stayed there regularly in 2006 and each time the rooms were of impeccable standard with fantastic beds bathrooms and wines. The rooms in the annexe were the quietest, Concha y Torro, but lacked the grand town house feel of the main building. Can't recommend this... more
