Writing this after reading in our local paper how brilliant this place is. Unbelievable, even by local rag, grovelly standards. I was narked in particular by the reviewers reference to negative tripadvisor comments. Apparently such negative reviewers are 'idiots'. So, here is another idiot who definitely did not find his evening at The Wykeham Arms to be anything like excellent.... More

Lovely old pub with good range of real ales and friendly staff. But ridiculously expensive. £14.50 for fish and chips is just a rip-off and a pint of bitter is a few pence off £4. They obviously target the tourists who only ever come once. Such a shame.

We wanted a quick weekend away with good accommodation , great food and lots to explore. The Wykeham Arms is the place to go! We were delighted with the location as the hotel was at the back entrance to the Cathedral grounds. This meant lovely short walks through the grounds to the High street and the surrounding lanes and riverside.... More

The Wykeham Arms has it all - great bar, great food and a perfect location in the centre of Winchester. The bar and restaurant are adorned with a very eclectic selection of historical pictures and artefacts with not only tankards but walking sticks on the ceiling. There are great nooks and crannies to sit in and even old classroom desks... More

Second time staying here and even better than the first time. A light lunch with a local beer was perfect and the dinner was very enjoyable plus the ambience and service were excellent. I don't think it would be possible to find a better location and all the staff are really friendly and make you feel at home. Look forward... More

We had dinner here a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely evening. We'd walked past a few times and looked in at the cosy restaurant candlelit tables, had a drink in the bar but never managed to bag one of said tables as they were always fully booked. We booked in advance this time which is advisable. Service... More

This was a great place on a cold, frosty night. The staff were very friendly & the food tasty, though a limited choice when we were there. There was a great choice of drinks, particularly ale & beer. Make sure you get a seat next to the real coal fire when you visit!

Booked for 2030 on a Saturday evening. We turned up a bit early expecting to have to sit in the bar for a bit but we're shown straight to our table. Ordered draught beer and bottle of wine from very friendly and chatty waiter. In fact all the staff we met were lovely and made us feel very welcome. The... More

Having read the restaurant reviews I had booked a table elsewhere but as soon as we walked into the Wykeham Arms we both decided we wanted to eat there and cancelled our other reservation. The reason I had booked elsewhere was solely based on Trip Advisor reviews. I do wonder if we were all talking about the same place! We... More
