My best man booked me and my wife into Lainston House last year on our wedding day. It was completely last minute as he'd mucked up our reservation for another hotel, but somehow he managed to totally redeem himself by getting us in here! We got married at Sparsholt college which was excellent - but Lainston was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! I... more

Yet again a wonderful stay. We had Sycamore, a beautiful suite full of charm and character with a stunning four poster and acres of space accompanied by an oversized bathroom with walk in shower, enormous bath etc. Our meal in the restaurant was probably the best ever (we are fortunate to eat here three or four times a year). The... more

Yes it's an impressive building and the decor is shiny and new but sadly the hotel isn't run very well and we left -after spending over £500 for one night in a standard room -feeling decidedly ripped off more

We had stayed one night earlier this year and decided to come back for a two-night stay when we needed to be in the area in mid-December. Once again we found it very relaxing and our room and bathroom were excellent - and good value with weekend rates. We had wondered what the restaurant would be like on a Saturday... more

Lainston House is a classic country house with circular driveway. Lovely rural setting, if a little tricky to find. The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere, so great if you are looking for that romantic getaway. The room I was allocated was massive - four poster bed and very traditional and heavy wood furniture. For me it was... more

I spent one night at Lainston House in December with my young son. We had a spacious and very comfortable room with a great view for a very reasonable rate -- all that and a tv you could watch in the bath, which my son loved! The service could not have been more kind and thoughtful -- they even packed... more

We stayed here for 2 nights straight after our wedding. Although there was nothing obviously wrong with our stay, we came away feeling quite neutral and not sad to leave. We had a junior suite which was lovely, huge and very clean. The bathroom was equally impressive. We ate in the restaurant both nights and thought the food was good,... more

Delightful place as for the settings and the room, and great deals. We had a room+dinner+breakfast package, and were upgraded in a suite, all this for a rather resasonnable cost for UK. Very friendly and professional staff at the bar (so great cocktails). So with all these top class details we had a huge disappointment at the restaurant, which is... more

We have just returned from a short break at the Lainston House Hotel . We stayed in a delux junior suite (called Heather) and had the most fantastic time. We arived mid afternoon and were shown to our room - it was enormous, a super king size bed, two very comfortable arm chairs, a full size desk, full size dressing... more

25th August 2007 Finding a William & Mary house set in sixty three acres of English countryside including a nearly one mile long avenue of lime trees must make Lainston House one of Britain's most desirable destinations. The hotel is far from cheap and nor does it pretend to be, but on meeting the bar and restaurant prices head on... more
