We stayed in the Lainston House Hotel for two nights in order to attend a function in Winchester. I chose the hotel after reading all the glowing reviews of it on this website. Reception Excellent. And very helpful staff at the reception desk. The room This was gorgeous. Huge and overlooking the lawn leading down to a wonderful vista of... more

We have stayed here four times this year and have enjoyed the exquisite setting through the different seasons. The original house has been added on to and the newer rooms we have had (still very much in classic country house style) are much larger than the main house rooms- themselves a very good size. The rooms have nice robes, a... more

....for the cost of the food, it is very high. We had our young baby with us so opted for a bar meal/room service and paid £20 each for a very average burger and chips. If money is no object then you may not mind. The breakfast was very good. more

Stayed for a 2 night break at the end of February, this is the second time we have stayed here and this time was a good as the last. The rooms are spacious and just lovely, gorgeous fabrics and lots of windows. We had the tasting menu the first night which was fantastic, well worth the money. Dinner on the... more

We were given what had been a single room which now had a small double pushed up against the wall in the main house. We were moved to a larger room outside (in January!) which was seriously lacking in design; needed refurbishing and smelt of mothballs. Dinner was superb with good service but it was too late to 'save the... more

How good to find a hotel that still believes in service. We were guests at lainston house for a week, and although the staff changed over that period of time, the levels of service remained high. The hotel is set in its own grounds and reception was very welcoming with an open fire. Our accommodation was excellent, with a large... more

We stayed at the Lainston House Hotel for a friends wedding and were very dissapointed. The furniture in the bedroom appeared to have been taken straight out of an old peoples home, with a high backed arm chair and old fashioned tables and drawers. These were not antiques, just shoddy old pieces of furniture. The bathroom was awful. It had... more

Stayed for two nights at Lainston House. Lovely place to chill out and the rooms were generally quite large and well furnished. Each room appears to have its own unique layout. All ensuite bath rooms appear to have walk in shower room areas and a separate bath (with a small tv). My room (the Oak) had 3 televisions including a... more

We attended a wedding on 29th September. From the moment we arrived down the sweeping tree lined drive you realise that you have stumbled upon somewhere really special. The foyer of the hotel is stunning and the attention to detail is very obvious. The room was the most stunning room Ive ever stayed in - one night definitely wasn't enough.... more

Last minute decision to go to this hotel for one night as part of our holiday. I Knew of ths hotel's reputation and it was located where we wanted to be. While I expect to pay a fair amount in a good country house hotel, £500 a night for two people for one night with dinner in an average room... more
