I spent a night hear whilst in the area with work. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of a picturesque village full of thatched roofs with a large beer garden/green which is perfect for a few evening drinks. The room with was in was clean and comfortable. It was also nice to see it was full of real... More

Stayed in The Old Bakery. Okay room that was not ready on arrival and with a pretty horrible old shower cubicle. This wouldn't have mattered if the shower had actually worked properly. It cycled between scorching hot and freezing cold. The owner said he would call in a plumber the next day but on returning this hadn't happened. He had... More

We do not often respond to reviews as we feel that everyone is entitled to voice their opinion - on this occasion, however, I feel that we do need to clarify a few points: Firstly I apologise again (as I did upon your arrival) that your room was not ready at the time you arrived - as I explained it... We're reasonably regular visitors to this attractive, welcoming and especially child friendly pub with its beautiful green across the road. We've eaten there a few times and our experience has been varied. Never bad but sometimes underwhelming, though our evening meal this week was excellent! The beers are superb! Regularly 5 or 6 local ales so if that's your thing... More

We booked a table for 8 for Sunday lunch over the bank holiday weekend, based on previous good reviews. Although the location was lovely and the staff were welcoming the food was disappointing. There was a long wait before we were served our foid and when it arrived, although the roasts looked fine all the veg and yorkshires were stone... More

We popped in this weekend, during their Ale Festival - the place was heaving! Despite this, we found tables and chairs outside the pub and settled in for a nice drink, then we ordered food (which was chaotic) and when the food arrived, we managed to find a table inside and the waiters managed to find the chairs! Husband went... More

We were looking on TripAdvisor for a nice place to eat in or around Winchester. After eliminating the better rated places because of price we decided on the Northbrook In, which seemed to have very positive reviews. When we actually ate there we were dissapointed, some of the food was brought out cold. But our main problem was with their... More

Went to the Northbrook Arms for a celebration last weekend and was really impressed with the excellent and reasonably priced food and the friendly welcome... highly recommend it! We were given the skittle alley to seat everyone for lunch which was a lovely touch as we were able to play skittles and relax for the afternoon. Great find!

Went to the NA which is my local pub for a meal with some friends and it was really delicious and the service excellent. Recommend the Gammon Steak. A very nice local pub which is warm and friendly and the locals are also warm and friendly. Plenty of parking.

We stopped by on the way home from a day trip to the seaside. On a glorious Spring day, we found the pub just right for a late Sunday lunch. Staff were welcoming, and not at all phased by a 7 year-old and a (very lively) 3 year-old, accompanied by their parents, and grandparents! We all opted for variations of... More

This is a lovely rustic inn and very welcoming, also very dog friendly. We stayed in the old bakery which was very cosy and comfortable and ideal if you have a dog. Had an excellent meal in the evening - excellent chips!! And breakfast in the morning was also lovely. Very friendly owners. Would definitely stay here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Northbrook Arms - a traditional village pub with letting rooms. The pub itself is owned by Lord Northbrook and has been part of his family estate for generations. We are situated in the idyllic village of East Stratton just minutes from the A33 between Winchester and Basingstoke. The pub boasts two gardens – the green opposite the pub which is perfect for catching the sun all day long, and the pretty country garden to the side of the pub which has an enclosed area at the bottom where children can play safely. We also have a traditional Skittle Alley in the beautiful old stables – with its own bar, space for dining and of course the Skittles – it is the perfect place to have a party or function. ... more   less
