First came to the Dolphin back in January for a 8week stay while on business in Southampton and come back now in May for a weeks final business, the staff catered for our every need, pack lunches if missed breakfast, different dinners if didn't fancy the menu, meals and drinks good prices, reception staff helped with everything, could always have... Cosy, clean, comfortable hotel with an interesting history. Right in the city centre. The receptionist asked if I would like a High Street view or a quiet room. I chose quiet which it was. A great night of sleep. Bathroom was very small but other than that I can't fault it. The prestige room I was upgraded to on my... More

We came to this hotel for a short break and chose it because of good location, which didn't disappoint, close to shops and harbour. Our room was so tiny that only one of us could walk around at a time, the toiletries were sparse and no shower cap! Although shower warm and quite powerful. There were 3 tables occupied at... More

Great building with lots of characters, I was told it is 540 years old which is amazing. Perfect location for shopping and eating. Great staff who cannot do enough for you. Staying for a month and have no issues with the place. They are even swapping my breakfast for a salad that I can take for lunch.

My wife booked a room at the Dolphin as a birthday treat for me & I was quite looking forward to staying at a hotel that is steeped in history. Unfortunately the experience was not a fantastic one. Check-in was efficient & we were informed that we would be staying in one of the satellite rooms next to the main... More

I booked the room as part of a birthday treat for my husband. We were in room 23 (not in he main building but out the back). Room was clean, possibly a bit small for the £85 price tag, bathroom was clean except for a stain on one of the towels. The lighting was odd...At the back of the room... More

We stayed in the main building of the hotel, which appears not to have been renovated for a long time. Nor cleaned. The staff (of whom, I'm sure, there are too few) are surly to the point of wilful ignorance - with the one exception of "Joe", who couldn't do enough for us and was the one shining example of... Dear N0rth Y0rks I would like to apologise for the problems you experienced, unfortunately we found ourselves in an unusual situation that we had to deal with. Southampton had a cruise ship delayed and this caused guests coming and going of guests to the ship to cross over with large amount of luggage I apologise if this caused you distress.... More
