arrived with online pre-booked rooms from australia. they had no record of our booking. got us a room but we didn't get the same rate (four pounds extra per night). the whole place has a disgusting odour, dampness, noisy. heard people having sex constantly through the room on the weekend. the receptionist really didn' t care and as we sat... more

Quite simply the worst service/reception in a hotel I have ever experienced. Arrived to see a miserable face who could not find my booking, did not know what the rate was, and then messed up the credit card transaction. All without a smile or an apology. I was running late and in a hurry - took nearly 45 mins to... more

Having read the reviews I was expecting it to be awful but it wasn't! Yes the carpets in the corridors were shabby and it is old but the room we had was fine - bed linen and towels all clean. The lift is old and a bit scary! The staff were excellent - really friendly and helpful! Had luke warm... more

What a fantastic web site, has any one contacted trading standards yet???? If you love there web site this is not the hotel for you. Ok the hotel has a car park £5 per night extra, if you do use it make sure you come equipped with a compass as finding the car park is near impossible and finding the... more

We found the Dolphin no problem, little scrabbly car park in the back and a warm welcome at reception. Yes we had to pay £5 for parking but we knew about this in advance, their website is very clear and worth a visit before you go as it gives you a little history on the hotel and it's 'visitors'. We... more

If you've already booked make sure you get a refurbished room as the unfirbished ones are awful, and I can't even mention the art. Room 301 has plastic arms chained to the wall like some S&M wierdness and horrible dirty gloves stuck to the wall!!! It's the wierdest place I have ever stayed and would never have paid the £100... more

WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL Really basic, I had to move rooms as first one was horrible. Parking you need to pay for £5 a day. Nothing nice about the hotel, stains on the carpet in hall ways, really old lifts, rooms are hard to find and the place has 6 resident ghosts. Not good! more

This is a really tough call ! I've had better stays and hotels and I've had a lot worse! The Dolphin has so much potential that under the current run of things is very much wasted. It's a great concept, the building has great potential both in it's style, and it's court yard area We only stayed for one night... more

The Dolphin Hotel is a beautiful building with so much potential but sadly it is unfulfilled. The decor of the rooms is supposed to be inspired by artists but frankly this just seemed a lame excuse to cut corners and cost: nasty laminate flooring; cheap, thrown together headboards; and poor quality attempts at art on the walls. In addition to... more
