This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Elizabeth House Hotel garners mixed feedback, with some guests finding the rooms quaint and immaculate, while others have reported them as cramped and dated. The staff's warm and efficient service consistently earns praise, contributing to the hotel's appeal. While cleanliness is generally celebrated, a few have encountered dampness issues. Amenities like parking and breakfast are popular, although there's room for enhancement in services. Opinions on value vary; it's seen as economical by some, particularly for cruise parking, yet others question the pricing given their experience.

Excellent! We were greeted by lovely staff on arrival, at breakfast and on leaving the hotel. The hotel was so clean, the room was warm and decorated to a high standard, could not fault the hotel. The selection at breakfast was great, plenty to choose from and high quality produce, we chose the cooked breakfast which was lovely. Thank you for a great stay!

Overnight stay and parking for cruise. Parking was very reasonably priced. Room was comfortable. Evening meal and breakfast were both very good. Staff were beyond excellent, attentive, helpful and friendly. They organised taxi transfer to cruise for us . Would certainly use again. Parking may look limited but is very well organised so there is no problem.

NOT a Good experience Stayed here just one night. The heating in the room didn't work on a particularly cold night. I was given a fan heater and that didn't work either. After a number of trips up and down stairs to reception I was finally given a working fan heater. To cap it all off I was woken by the hotels builders at 7.45am the next morning. I discussed my issues with the owner the following day who was dismissive and argumentative claiming my claims of being woken up were false and he didn't hear anything!! Was offered £10 compensation with I found quite insulting Worse still I haven't even received that. AVOID!

Dear Paul, Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your recent stay with us, however after a lengthy discussion between us both I did not agree with some of the points you made. The heating at one point during the evening tripped, however the reception team were quick to act and provide you heaters in the meantime. The problem was resolved quickly and promptly and the heating was back on in no time. We are having building works done at the moment which are due to finish this month, which are part of our extensive planned refurbishment works. I was there that morning with the builders to run through the works planned, which didn't actually start till 08:30. Your claims of noise from 07:45 was attributable to a conversation between myself and the builders which I find outstanding, no loud noise was created. Customer service is my first priority however in this instance I did not agree with your points, hence I did not feel it applicable for a full refund. I have been in contact since but have not heard back. Kind regards Jamie

What a wonderful stay! The room was lovely, full of original Victorian features and a big deep bath. It was really clean as well! Extra points for the sterling biscuits! Dinner was divine and so was breakfast, all the staff were so friendly and really cared about me and my stay. I really recommend this hotel, I am hoping I stay again.

During a difficult time when my wife was in the hospital, I stayed at Elizabeth House Hotel. This hotel stood out for its exceptional service and care, making my experience much easier than expected. The hotel is family-run, and it shows not just in the attention to detail but in how guests are treated. The staff, even those not related by blood, come together to create a welcoming environment, treating guests like family. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a peaceful retreat. The housekeeping team deserves a mention for their efficient and unobtrusive service, ensuring my room was always spotless. Eating at the hotel’s restaurant and bar was a pleasure. The food was great, and the service was friendly and attentive. It was clear that the staff are dedicated to making sure guests have a good experience. Despite having stayed in luxury hotels worldwide, the personal attention and genuine care at Elizabeth House Hotel were unmatched. It’s rare to find such a supportive and friendly atmosphere in a hotel. Thank you to everyone at Elizabeth House Hotel for your kindness and excellent service during a challenging time. This hotel goes beyond just providing a place to stay; it offers a comforting presence when it’s needed the most. I’m grateful for the experience and look forward to visiting again under better circumstances.

This is our 4th or maybe 5th stay at the Elizabeth and it certainly won’t be our last. Hotel is spotless, staff are so helpful, breakfast is lovely and the site is so convenient. Perfect for visiting family and getting out and about in the city. Yes, there are stairs but there are rooms on the ground floor and we have never had a problem with parking even in the height of season

We stay at the Elizabeth House Hotel every time we visit Southampton and it never disappoints. We were back again this month and had a lovely time - the staff were friendly as always and the room was spacious and comfortable, great value for money. Had a great night’s sleep and enjoyed a complimentary cuppa and biscuits in the morning. There is plenty of parking as well if you’re coming from further away and I believe they also offer cruise parking. Have a chat with the team at reception if you have any questions, they’ve always been very helpful if ever we needed anything. Overall very happy - thanks again Jamie and team!

The staff were friendly and helpful and there were no problems with breakfast or parking. But... The bathroom door was very difficult to close. The catch on the door was on the point of failing. If these two items (advised to reception) are not fixed soon somebody is going to become trapped. The light over the basin did not work. The vinyl flooring was extremely badly fitted. Whilst not a problem to a guest perhaps it might be indicative of a slapdash approach by the hotel management. The TV remote control was faulty (it was the wrong brand) meaning several functions were unavailable. The mattress was very noisy. This sounds strange but just turning over made an extraordinary row. It was also very uncomfortable. We both had a very poor night's sleep and won't be staying at Elizabeth House again.

Dear Guest I'm sorry to hear that your stay with us was not a good one. We welcome all feedback, both good and bad as it's the only way we can improve our hotel offering for all guests. We look forward to sharing these enhancements across all our social media channels, including TripAdvisor. I do hope you choose to stay with us again at the Elizabeth House Hotel. Kind regards Edyta

Welcomed by lovely front of house gentleman , in fact all the staff were lovely. Room was tiny, ok as a solo room but tight for two. All very ordinary but fine for a single night stay. Restaurant went with the rest of the hotel, not terrible but not very good either. I would use it again as a cruise stay over as it is better than equivalently priced budget brands.
