The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and really made my stay most comfortable. This is a great location, especially in relation to the university - lots of buses stopping nearby. Nice breakfast, great service. The room itself was quite small, but as I was traveling alone and didn't spend much time there anyhow, it didn't matter to me. In... more

I first booked a regular room on line. at the day of my visit I got a phone call that they do not have the room that I booked (even though it was confirmed) and I needed to pay more for an en-suite room. I had very limited time in Southampton, so I did not have time to start searching... more

We arrived on spec and we were greeted with a genuine smile and warm welcome. Having travelled for a long time it was great to be shown to our clean warm room with an ensuite shower that quickly produced a welcome hot shower! After a comfortable nights sleep we happily joined the other guests in the dining room for an... more

A small clean friendly establishment. Managers/proprietors welcoming and very helpful. Small but very clean room and shower . Tea and coffee tray provided and flat screen TV. Great location very close to shops and station. Liked the overall atmosphere and affability of the managers. Found the room small but felt cleanliness cooked breakfast and frindly atmosphere made up for it.... more

Stayed here in november /08,double room was tiny but warm.So called en suite was a complete joke, the "closet" that contained the toilet was{and i am not joking}no bigger than a small wardrobe, you would really have to be desperate to use it.The shower cubicle is actually a glass surrounded structure at the foot of the bed!yes in the middle of the... more

Stayed here for one night during February 2008. The room was compact, but had high quality furnishings and the bathroom looked brand new. Good size tv and the usual tea and coffee making facilities that are always welcome after a long time travelling. Location is north of the city centre just outside the student roads, however this is a bonus... more

The Banister House has all that you'd expect of a British B&B/guesthouse. I've stayed there for a couple of nights and was very happy with the choice. The hotel is a modest and utilitarian one, rather a small one, but had everything that I needed. Very good value for the price. The hotel is conveniently located between the town centre... more

Was in Southampton for two days on business and was booked into the Banister. On arrival (early evening), found the hotel was fully occupied so was happy that had been pre-booked. Car park, although fairly large with space for about 8 vehicles and two additional 'disabled' spaces was almost full. Was met at the door by by Alain who was... more

I stayed for two nights in a single room with shower. It seemed cheap for the area until I saw how small the room was - about 6 feet by 12 feet with the shower cubicle in the room. It was tolerable since my stay was so short but I would not stay here on a longer trip. Breakfast, included... more
