I have stayed at Longbeech twice this year and really enjoyed this beautiful tranquil setting where the forest animals come and graze amongst the campers. You can head off through the woods and glades from every direction, discovering peaceful clearings where you can find a fallen tree to sit on and just enjoy the quiet surroundings The two wardens based on... We stayed at Ocknell as a group of 10 initially as it was the only campsite that would have groups over the bank holiday weekend. But what a brillaint choice!! We paid a little extra and booked well in advanced and managed to secure an area out of the way so as not to annoy too many people. When we... More

Having nothing to compare it to, other than friends advice and online reviews, we have just come back from a weekend camping break at Ocknell. I loved camping, and Ocknell really will take you back to basics, there is only a toilet block and washing up facilities. No showers, and as we pitched in quite a way from them, a... More

Ocknell is a beautiful place we have been many times over the past 3 years .We go there as it's fairly level ground which is ideal for our disabled son to walk on,This visit was the first time I had met the site manager and all I can say about him is he's not a people person, arrogant & in the... The last couple of years we have stayed and Longbeech and said we would not go back this year because of rude, arrogant staff and in particular a guy called 'RON' who had put himself in charge of Longbeech Campsite. He made many people's stay very unpleasant, wore no identification, not even a shirt most of the time. We heard... More

We had a great time at Ocknell, but it was before peak season so it was very quiet: we didn't see the wardens and there were no other tents down in the glades (definitely the best place to pitch if in a tent!), so we felt totally alone ...apart from the beautiful horses. The facilities were all fine and clean,... More

Ocknell is a 'natural' heathland site, so the only facilities are toilets. Given that those are supplied, I was horrified to find quite so much used loo roll in the brambles behind our tent pitch (and given it was a bank holiday weekend, there wasn't much uption to move. Do the wardens not check this kind of thing? However, the... More

We booked onto this site for one night on the way to Cornwall, we stayed for three and have returned five times since May. The location is superb, heathland on one side and forest on the other. We particularly liked the way we were allowed to choose our own pitch. The ponies, donkeys and cows roam the site freely and... More

Having just returned form a 2 night stay at Ocknell, we really feel dissapointed, nothing wrong with the site. The main wardens in charge of this site were so unfriendly and unhelpful. Also you could put up a large awning for free but you had to pay £5 a night for a gazzebo, only aloud one 4 pole windbreak. This... More
