What a shame. Such a lovely campsite but very poorly run!! Having arrived as a group of 5 friends, we were greeted with 'there's a £20 behaviour bond for groups of 4 and more, that you get back at the end of your stay'. We agreed as we knew we would be behaved as we weren't out to have a... More

Positives: As a small group of 2 arriving on a Sunday and leaving Tuesday morning the site was quite empty, hardy anyone there. Those that were there all seemed pleasant and cheerful, mostly the elderly generation. The site was kept tidy (no litter) and the toilets were very clean. The new forest all around. Big beautiful and massive. Whilst camping... More

The site is beautiful and brimming with wild life. In the two days we were there we had the pleasure of seeing, quite up close, Deer, Ponies (almost in our tent), Squirrel, Woodpeckers, Rabbits.... i could on but you get the idea. This was a perfect place to take our children on their first camping experience, they absolutely loved the... More

I camped at longbeech for 1 week each year for 17 years as a child with a caravan and tent and there were five of us. Longbeech is only half open now due to overuse. My husband had never camped here so we stayed at ocknell for two nights. Loved it. We had a four berth tent and although there... More

I never write reviews on the places I visit but I must let everyone know about the unprofessionalism and rudeness of certain wardens that work at Ocknell campsite. I paid my well earned money to stay at this campsite and I would be expecting wardens to help and support the campers not speak to them like children and accuse campers... More

We camped August bank hol and found lovely spot separated by trees and one that backed onto open plain. There are no showers but the toilet facilities good and drinking water and chem disposal available. Having read other bad reviews but we found site lovely and the rangers we encountered very friendly, joking with us that any beer to be... More

Basic camp site, no showers (how do they expect folk to clean themselves?), wild horses and their leavings everywhere and a noisy motorway close by. Staff were very helpful but don't always trust their directions: I was sent on a two-hour wild goose chase for camping gas. The new forest is great, but won't be returning to Ocknell.

Having used the New Forest for the past 35 years. I feel I must complain about the attitude of the site warden during our recent stay. ( 9 August 2013) We found them officious, sarcastic and unfriendly. Having traveled for 3 hours to be verbally beaten up on the site rules, like we were children and that in their opinion... More

My son , 10 years old, was nearly bitten by an adder, an almost 2 foot brown snake with V patterns on its body. This happened as my son with his two sisters a few meters behind excitedly walked on a path between blackberry bushes to see a horse in the next grass patch. As the horse walked towards them... More

This is a no frills campsite with toilets and washing up sinks only. We stay here every year though because we love the setting and wildlife you get to see. It really is a great campsite. You get to wake up to donkeys, cows, horses, pony's and deer. Take a walk at dawn or dusk and there are of course... More
