Although a little run down. I found the friendly staff at this hotel to be excellent. The bedrooms were modest but comfortable and if down in this part of the world again I would happily stay again. The bar was comfortable and quiet which was lovely.

I stayed, with my partner, overnight while on a course. THe hotel was really nice, friendly helpful staff, lovely victorian decor and rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Beds were very comfy and if I had to grumble about anything it would be that it was a bit hot in the night but most hotel rooms are! It's situated in... More

Do not be intimidated by the outside look of the hotel. The inside is much better.. The rooms are clean, although the single bedroom is a bit too small, there is TV, free wifi, adapters for european sockets available, the people are nice and the breakfast is excellent! The price is ok, but more important, the location of the hotel... More

Worst place I have ever stayed in. Shocking charged £4 for parking and parking was terrible all pot holes. The room is ment to be a double instead two single beds shower doesn't even work and toliet seat was half hanging off. Left after 10 minutes terrible.

The Star Hotel has such a bad review here on trip advisor, but the cost is really reasonable, so I decided that so long as the hotel room was clean it would be ok. The outside of the hotel is shabby, but the inside is fine. My room had a TV in the base of the bed, which was really... More

Stayed for 2 nights, the hotel is old and rickety with out dated furniture but it had character. Mark & Chris on Reception were outstanding. Had a great time. Breakfast was really good, didn't use the bar as there was Wetherspoons next door.

I checked into this hotel and stayed for 2 nights, it's sure to say I wouldn't particularly have liked to stay any longer, the room itself was very rundown, with mis matching furniture. The bathroom however seemed to had been redone and was fairly clean. I must mention the day time receptionist who was very welcoming and was able to... More

We arrived a couple of hours before the check in time and the receptionist was happy for us to leave our car in the car park, which was helpful the staff were very pleasant, but the room we had (no.2) really was in need of some TLC!! the bed did not even have a headboard or side tables! I often... More
