Stayed for 2 nights, the hotel is old and rickety with out dated furniture but it had character. Mark & Chris on Reception were outstanding. Had a great time. Breakfast was really good, didn't use the bar as there was Wetherspoons next door.

I checked into this hotel and stayed for 2 nights, it's sure to say I wouldn't particularly have liked to stay any longer, the room itself was very rundown, with mis matching furniture. The bathroom however seemed to had been redone and was fairly clean. I must mention the day time receptionist who was very welcoming and was able to... More

We arrived a couple of hours before the check in time and the receptionist was happy for us to leave our car in the car park, which was helpful the staff were very pleasant, but the room we had (no.2) really was in need of some TLC!! the bed did not even have a headboard or side tables! I often... More

This is a great value hotel in a central location.Though the extractor fans are very noisy. Sure, The Star has seen better days, but you get what you pay for and in that respect this a great value hotel. Lots of tatty bits, but shower was good, bed was comfortable, room was warm, breakfast (extra) was hearty, receptionist was lovely,... More

We booked this hotel as an overnight stay prior to catching a cruise ship and were very pleasantly surprised for our £30. Squeezing the car into the tight car parking area the hotel looked quite rundown from the outside but the Foye was clean and tidy and the reception staff were very pleasant. The lift was reclaimed from the Ark... More

Stayed again for a cheap overnighter in town. Perfect for our night out at Margaritas on Town Quay. £60 including breakfast. Room clean, bed comfy, pillows good. Bathroom was cold with no heating. Breakfast very tasty. Staff friendly. Does look pretty run down but def serves a purpose.

We were in Southampton for a one night stay, and were pleasantly surprised! After reading reviews we were expecting a hovel. The room was clean, if a little dated. The beds were comfy, the place was quiet, the location was a five minute walk from where we needed to be, lovely location for shops, town, and food, too. Bathroom was... More

We had a party of four with two double rooms booked at 49 pounds each - I was expecting the worst but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very run down, there's no doubt about that but our room was newly decorated and was clean, it even had two double beds in. If your looking for a cheap overnight... More

Before this visit I was worried: in the UK, especially in small towns, I have visited some shocking hotels in the past, dirty, shattered, knackered, really unpleasant. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise: clean, simple, though the facade looks shabby the room was extremely decent, toilet small but well organized and very clean. If u are on a budget... More
