OK. Reception area and restaurant very well done and the staff friendly and helpful. the location is convenient being opposite the station, close to the shops and the ships but nothing special as an hotel. For what was paid it represented very poor value for money but if you can get it at a reasonable price it would be acceptable.... more

We were in room 105. The room was large, had the bonus of a comfortable settee, ironing board and iron, limited mini bar, beverage tray, safe and hairdryer. The staff happily gave us more coffee sachets on request. The windows could only be opened a limited amount, as they opened onto a flat roof but the room was still cool... more

Being a regular traveller for work reasons, I've stayed at a variety of hotels, most of them quite disappointing. Thus, I wasn't expecting very much from the Novotel at Southampton. In fact, I seem to recall staying there before and it was pretty forgettable. This time, however, I was extremely pleasantly surprised. On arrival, I discovered that my travel bookers... more

Easy check in. Refurbishment team working on our floor. Our room still old-style, dingy, and in need of makeover. Squeaky door hinges, stained cushions, much fluff, stained net curtains. WC cubicle separate from bathroom, without handbasin. [Staff confirm refurbishment does not include handbasins in cubicles: weird cost-cutting]. Upsides: good size room, decor OK, comfortable bed, sofa + two dining chairs,... more

The Hotels Ibis and Etap are in the same surroundings, aswell as TGI- Friday and McDonalds. It Will cost you less... more

Stayed here for one night, good friday, easter before going over to the Isle of Wight, very good hotel, easy to find, parking at a fair charge £3 per day although we never ended up paying. We checked in late and were given a free upgrade not sure what to as the room to me looked like what I had... more

I stayed at this hotel with my partner and my 11 year old niece in Feb 2009 on a Friday and Saturday. I paid £160 for an advanced purchase rate including breakfast. I felt this was well worth it. This hotel is only a five minute walk from Southampton Central station. The rooms are very nice, immaculately maintained and typically... more

This is a Novotel -- in the shopping area of Southampton..... The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable -- yes, the toilet was separate from shower/wash basin room (not a big deal!). We stayed on the 5th floor and the windows were double glazed and the bathroom was very clean and looked new. Breakfast was included in our rate... more

Stayed here for one night on business. My colleague stayed here the previous night and had a quite nice room. But my room...... 409.... It's part of a family room with a dividing door which has NO lock!!! The only thing to stop other people to come in from the other side is a thin piece of mental! The wardrobe... more

This is a Novotel and, like them all as long as it is up to their revised spec, is absolutely fine. Completely standard fittings in the room but plenty of space, a comfy bed clean and well maintained and all perfectly OK. We were there to see our undergrad son and do the sales and it could not have been... more
