I had to attend a course for two weeks and I decided to book the Mayview. It was a great decision, as I was 10-15 minutes walking distance to all the important things in Southampton. The rail station, the bus station, the museum, the city centre, the library. Everything was right there. There is a very nice lady working there... More

I stayed for 3 days and it was not welcoming. The lady did not change my towels for consecutively 3 days and I was not given the information about the check out time. I disappointed by her impoliteness and the services I paid for. Definitely not worth for the price you paid.

This guest house is very close to the city centre. I would say however the if you are travelling by food there are some rather dangerous road crossings to consider, but such is Southampton! I would say this guest house is distinctly average, not brilliant, not terrible. The room was of a fair size. I was somewhat disappointed by the... More

The lady running the guest house was very helpful - which was a good thing considering the hotel desperately needs some repairs. This is a budget hotel so you can't have it all! Everything seemed very clean (including the bathrooms), which in my experience is rare in cheap hotels. When I arrived the proprietor knew who I was and although... More

centrally located b&b with v good breakfast and clean room the girl who runs it is very friendly and for the price this was very good its no frills and maintenance of the property could be a bit better but for what you pay is good true that the clocktower if a light sleeper would keep you awake early morning... This bnb is probably about a couple of quids cheaper than the others, it is a nightmare though!! If you go to bed early, you can be frustrated, as you can hear the loud chimes (till mid-night, every 15 minutes) from the clock tower - Civic centre, just yards away from the bnb. I could hear gushing of water around... More

I'd recommend this B&B to someone who is budget-conscious and wishes to be within easy walking distance of Southampton Central Station for train connections. The room reminded me of where a great-aunt might put you up for the night, well-kept and cozy, with a bit of old-fashioned charm. Romanian manageress is lovely and works very hard for her guests; breakfast... More
