Everything about my stay at the Festing Grove was wonderful. The proprietor is very friendly and helpful. I called him direct to book a room and explained that I would be flying into London then would go to Portsmouth from there. He graciously described how to travel from London to Portsmouth and on to Festing Grove. When I did arrive, I was greeted with smiles and a helping hand with my luggage. Festing Grove is an old house, three floors if I am remembering correctly, and the guest rooms are renovated bedrooms. I only saw a couple of rooms, but they were very clean and comfortable. The linens were fresh, floors swept and vacuumed, and surfaces dust free. My room had a sink with hot water (I’ve been some places where that is a luxury). The guests share a bathroom, which is very big with a toilet and claw foot bath and shower. Breakfast is made to order by the proprietor and was heavenly. All this for a very inexpensive price. I simply can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Portsmouth. more
