Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was very big considering there was only the 2 of us, could have been a family room if there were more beds. Had a Toby Carvery right next door to it, and breakfast was a full english, buffet style and as much as you want.(£3.99) Staff at the travelodge were really nice and chatty... More

Excellent old style hotel with plenty of character. Lovely big rooms which were cleaned daily. The staff were very friendly and obliging, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Outside the travel lodge is a bus stop which takes you directly to Portsmouth and the historic dockyard. I have stayed in many travel lodges and this is one of my... More

I have never stayed at a Travelodge before. I booked on-line for a two week business trip. The website did inform me that the the Travelodge was due for a refurbishment very soon. This set alarm bells ringing. However, reading other trip adviser member reviews, (Thanks Guys!) I opted to book this Travelodge. On arrival, I was greeted with a... More

Just returned from a four night stay at Hilsea. Very pleasantly surprised, rooms larger than average for a family of four, clean fresh and relatively quiet. Loved the fact that it's located next to a great Toby Carvery (£3.99 for 'All you can Eat' breakfast and £6.99 carvery & ice cream). Rooms at the back benefit from birdsong. Only problem... More

Considering the price we paid for the two night stay, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was immaculate. The towels and bedding were beautifully clean, fresh and soft and there were plenty of free soap gel, shower gel, and drinks. You could also help yourself to more drinks if required, near reception. The receptionist was very polite and friendly and... More

clean, tidy, efficient hotel with courteous staff, toby carvery next door was good for breakfast, we used it for a drink at nightime which was convenient. The car park was a good size and the hotel was a good base for Portsmouth

We stayed at this hotel because we were attending a pub quiz at the Toby Carvery and wanted a base for the weekend. On reflection I wish we'd stayed somewhere else. The door was extremely difficult to unlock, the bath was filthy and had a non-slip mat which had been badly stuck to the bottom of the bath and lifted... More

it was a nice surprise to find a freshly refurbished room, however a chance has been wasted to improve the noise proofing of the walls and doors, if you unlucky enough to have noisy neighbours you're guaranteed a wasted night. Nip next door for an unlimited cooked breakfast for £4, bear in mind drinks or cereals aren't included.

As ever, location good but have visited many Travelodges and this isn't the best. Stayed in room104, ground floor near reception, so some noise from guests entering at night. Corridor smelt of drains. No drawers or cupboards for clothes in rooms, just 5 hangers in open wardrobe for 3 adults. Also just 1 bath towel between 3, so if they... More
