Gill is a wonderful hostess, very welcoming and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent, with plenty of choice. We stayed in room five on the top floor, it was a lovely room but as one or two others commented there are 3 flights of stairs and this room is at the front so we were aware of the road noise, particularly... Hi Janet, and thank you for the review, I have had the plumber back, he has adjusted the flow and we are looking into having a pump put on the mains, just one other thing I only have the ground floor with the dining room/lounge with two more floors with 'only two' staircases, someone else wrote saying 3 staircases and... We were pleased to have found such comfortable accommodation at short notice and to be only 10 minutes walk from Clarence Pier, the start of many interesting sights to visits. The room was spotlessly clean, and large enough for an overnight stay, and although the shower was 'snug' it was perfectly adequate. The bed was very comfortable and Gill was... More

Stayed in the twin room, which is cleverly planned to make the most of the space - it is not large, but comfortable and perfectly good for a short stay (we only needed a one-night stopover). As commented by others, Gill is very hospitable and helpful, and this made for a generally friendly atmosphere at breakfast - which was also... More

The bed was very comfortable, the room warm, delightfully furnished and came with all the little extras of toiletries etc. breakfast was lovely. We were wishing we had booked for a longer stay and would very... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the Pier. Gill was very helpful, the breakfast was terrific, topped of by her home made yogurt - the best I have ever had. The room was perfect, very clean. It is an easy walk to Southsea and the Old Harbor. There are plenty of restaurants close by, Gill will be happy to recommend... More

I stayed at The Pier for 3 nights recently, and was very happy with my choice! Gill is a lovely hostess, charming and friendly, and her breakfasts are delicious! Loved the cooked-to-order breakfast, and with the delicious home-made yogurt, cereal, toast etc etc, I was set up for the day's sightseeing. My room was quiet, spacious, bed ultra-comfortable, pretty vanity... More

I stayed at The Pier for 3 nights in April. Pretty and comfortable house with a lovely host. My room was quiet and comfortable and the full English breakfast (with locally sourced ingredients) and homemade yogurt was delicious. The inn is well located- I found it easy to walk to the town centre as well as the shore. Would definitely... More
