The room was quite nice but the bathroom had seen better days. This would not be so bad if it looked like an effort had been made. The showerhead was disgusting. The lino had been sliced. There was black on the ceiling which could have been easily sorted. Did not appreciate having to flush the toilet on entering either. The... More

This is definitely an old historic B&B directly across from the rail and bus stations and gunwharf quay shopping center. Also it is very close proximity to the Harbor attractions and center town. This B&B must be very hard to maintain and quite costly to do so. Yes there are areas of paint and wallpaper peeling and chipped walls, but... More

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL !!!!!!!!!! Its the worst place in the world. The rooms are terrible. The carpets are so old they are threadbare. The curtains are filthy. The bathroom is as old as the building. The ceiling had water stains from an old leek. THIS PLACE SHOULD HAVE A HEALTH WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went with friend to this hotel as we were attending a dinner on HMS Warrior on the Saturday night. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. There are excellent parking facilities but then you get to your room. My friends comments on our room was that it was a palace compared to theirs. But look closer, paper peeling... More

The location is key, not even 2 minute walk from the train station and only a 4 minute walk to gunwharf quays shopping centre. close to the pyramids (place for concerts), rooms abit dirty and need up dating but then again it kind of gives the hotel character and edge. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is standard, just like the... More

Had a large Harbour View room & looked out on to the Warrior - honestly, the bus station and busy little quay are entertaining & quiet. Wonderful view Hotel is one minute walk from train station, 30 seconds from coach station, and one minute from Dockyard. Good breakfast - buffet starters & freshly cooked breakfast from kitchen - which beats... More

We have stayed here a couple of times. Yes - it is faded and frayed around the edges but the rooms are clean, (sometimes a bit dusty but its an old building,) the staff are friendly, the position is superb and value for money is excellent. Our 1960s avocado bathroom suite has seen better days but was spotlessly clean, as... More

great location, secure parking , nice people warm room , great breakfast couldn't do enough ! This is a good hotel with all the basics covered nicely! The hotel could benefit from a decoration makeover but the price reflected this !

I booked the Keppels Head in advance for 1 night whilst on business in Portsmouth. On arrival the reception area looked ok but on arrival at my room with a view over the Bus station........words cannot describe the disappointment. I have stayed in dozens of hotels over the last few years and this was by far the worst!! The décor... More

My husband and I always used to stay at the Holiday Express on the gun wharf but a couple of years ago we thought we would try The Keppels Head just to see what it was like. Well what a find. Yes the rooms are dated but what a great place. We always ask to stay in the large rooms... More
