It's still tired and faded but there's something that makes me want to come back. The staff are pleasant, the rooms are large (although in need of re refurbishment) and bed linen fresh and clean. If you are fortunate to have one of the front rooms and can ignore the bus station immediately in front of the hotel, there is... More

I stayed in the Keppels Head over the weekend to visit my partner who is based in Portsmouth. I would stay in this hotel again in a heart beat! We paid £69 per night for a double room with breakfast included... after being quoted £245 per night for the Holiday Inn Express (room only) we thought this was a bargain!... More

It has to be said : this hotel / B&B is in need of a very big refurbishment. It will attract some poor reviews on account of being frayed at some of its edges and lacking the pristine finishes that so many people expect wherever they go. The location is brilliant and the staff and catering are very acceptable. The... More

The only good thing about this hotel was its location - 5 minutes walk from all the ships and museums on the harbour front. It was a 10 minute walk to the Designer shopping outlet and lots of really nice restaurants and cafes. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone. Our room, 34, had a bed with a badly... More

Five minutes or less from your room are the Hisoric Dockyards, Railway Station, Isle of Wight Ferrirs, Trendy shops and dinning, old style pub and food and much more. The hotel is older with a classic manual sliding door lift that adds to thr charm, there is not evening dinning just breakfast. Rooms are basic and Wifi is only available... More

I was dreading this hotel after reading all the reviews but it is fine as I sit in our room looking at the old ship, The warrior, across the road, with the window open. Agree with everyone else about the condition of the hotel but it is convenient if you are relying on public transport and so close to everything.... More

We spent 2 nights at this hotel, the location was great the staff were good, and we liked that the hotel provided free parking. The breakfasts were good, and the room was comfortable and had plenty of space. However the hotel was very run down and would benefit from a major renovation. The front door was the first indication of... More

This hotel is in an excellent location (opposite the train station), great breakfast and huge rooms! I've never stayed in a hotel with rooms as big as this. Yes the rooms need a bit of TLC and the decor is a bit dated but I liked the quirkyness of this hotel and it's unique decor. The staff were all excellent... More

Friendly staff and lovely breakfast, but the dining room and bar area both had holes in the ceiling, the lift was something out of a nightmare, the beds were reasonable but the noise from the stand up across the road, and the trains, meant little sleep. The room stank of cigarettes, the wallpaper was peeling and the bathroom was something... More

This hotel could be wonderful. It has an enviable position. opposite the bus/train station/ historic shipyard. Only a couple of hundred yards from Gunwharf Quay. It has it's own free parking and all the staff I dealt with were excellent. The room was clean but very, very tired. It looks like any decorating that has been done has been done... More
