In need of a very desperate make over the hotel inspector would have a field day with this 1 we found it dirty it's a shame because the rooms are very big they could be lovely with a revamp first impression was not good at the front door the glass all dirty and it just got worse as we went... Perfect location if you want easy access to Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower and Dockyard. Bit noisy as it's just across the road from the main bus station and rail station. Very dated but clean and breakfast was great. Don't stay here if you want "boutique " standard, this is just a basic hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast and location make... More

We were travelling on the early ferry out to Santander and didn't fancy the early morning drive down from Derbyshire. Travelling with the dog it limited our choice a bit so despite the varied reviews we opted for this budget hotel. We read the reviews so adjusted our expectations accordingly. Ok, so it is very tired and in need of... More

Stayed here recently rather than travel home as was feeling poorly. The hotel staff at reception were very friendly and pleasant and helped us check-in in a fast and efficient manner. The rooms are large and basic but for the price great value for money. The only downside was someone was hoovering early, around 6am somewhere near my door which... More

We came by train from Wales so this hotel was ideal for us as we walked off the train into hotel. It was lovely and old fashioned with all mod. cons.we couldn't fault the room we looked straight out to the Harbor which is what we came to see.The bathroom was great and the tea and coffee.Breakfast was beautifully served and... I cannot give a rating for this once beautiful hotel. It was falling to bits. Tatty does not come close; I took photographs of all the damage to the room we were given but this is what we had to put up with; Bathroom, dirty toilet seat, dirty shower head, towel rail coming off the wall, stained wall paper everywhere,... Great location, free parking, nice breakfast, historic building, cheap, worn carpets, creaky floors. But for £55 b&b 2 mins from the historic dockyard it's ok. I think the hotel claim wifi in public areas but I was unable to connect.

Having read reviews on here I decided to keep an open mind. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it does need some TLC and decorating, this can be achieved in time. I am most impressed with the room (34) very big and airy with a fantastic view of the spinnaker tower and the historic dock yard.... More

I should have known with a price of £59 I wasn't getting the Ritz...but the noise was really bad ...a Thursday night and from Midnight till 4 screaming and shouting ....when I rang to complain about the noise the manager denied it ?? My advice stay else where and pay a bit more for a good night sleep !

My husband and I stayed in this hotel the weekend just gone as we took part in the Great South Run and all I can say is that I would not recommend it to anyone. I am not a picky person, I've often read reviews and wondered what planet some people live on with their nit-picking about really minor issues... More
