Stayed for two nights recently as it was so close to the Historic Docks. The hotel is in a great position for the docks and Gunwharf Quays shopping & dining area. The hotel was very reasonable, the room/beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. For the price it is certainly value for money. Would certainly stay again.

Me and the family stopped here for a late lunch. Large portions , home cooked food is what to expect frendly service. I asked for medium rare got well done on the s rump. Wasn't the best meal I had this week but was reasonably priced and good value. The beer wasn't the best kept. I have to confess I... More

Excellent place, with good service and good food, easy walk to Gun Wharf Quay and Historic Dockyard. The hotel has a facility of save parking in Dockyard car park which is good and not far to walk and at half price. One down thing if you have a bad back do not have room 3 as the bed is a... More

stayed here whilst working in Dockyard opposite. Very warm welcome upon arrival. Car parking opposite and cheaper if you are staying in the george. Was in a single room (8) and it was lovely and cosy. Bed very comfy, plenty of tea / coffee making facilities in room, lovely en-suite, shower was great. Free Wi-Fi Bar area was lovely and... More

Owners very friendly, we had lunch which was lovely. The room was nice and clean, television although we didn't use it, too busy enjoying the real ales in the lounge bar. Bar staff really welcoming and friendly, good banter. Our only minus was the Breakfast which we felt let the George down, in fact I didn't eat my cooked breakfast,... More

The George Hotel is a charming place to stay in its own way, staff are friendly and very helpful, very close to shops restaurants and 2 min walk to the Historic ship yards. Value for money room was very spacious but the decor was a little tired, but that didn't detract from the Portsmouth experience. Nice little bar to sit... More

My wife and I stayed at the George Hotel for two nights for our eldest daughters graduation. The room (no 3) was very spacious and we were glad of the fan in the room with the very hot weather at the moment. The included breakfast on both mornings was very good. The location of the hotel is very handy for... More

—stayed one night— It sounded so promising, and looks attractive in the photos. The reality was so-so at best. The room was a great spacious thing, but the beds were small and uncomfortable and the other furniture flimsy. The bathroom was palatial, but not in a helpful or appealing way. The breakfast options were basically cooked or not, with no... More

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The George Hotel is excellent value for money very clean, the rooms were just perfect. Would definitely recommend them and would stop again without hesitation. Close to local amenities as well and also the car park is near by. It had everything you would need for a weekend break. The food and service... More

The George Hotel is a pub, nothing more, but what it lacks for in "boutique"gimmicks.. It makes up with in friendliness, location, lovely breakfast. The room was large and clean.. Bed comfortable. The only bug bear was the shower... It was difficult to get the right temp.. But as it was a rather hot sticky day, I put up with... More
