This B&B is wonderfully located near historic Portsmouth. Alex, the owner, is a wonderfully friendly and helpful fellow who knows an extraordinary amount of the history of Portsmouth and, especially, Admiral Nelson.

I had a last minute change of ferry booking, so needed a one night stay in Portsmouth and chose Lombard House from the reviews here. So pleased I did. A little old fashioned, but only in a quaint way, as it had everything you could want and bags of character. Also, the loveliest owners ever - really friendly, passionate about... More

Very welcoming and well placed in Old Portsmouth. On street parking wasn't a problem. Not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with narrow steep stairs as the 2 bedrooms are on the top floor and breakfast is served in the basement (which has a low ceiling). I should have asked for non allergic pillows as the feather pillows set my... More

We have just been to Lombard house for another visit, our third, and have booked another visit in November. Enough said? Alex's breakfast is still the biggest and best that I've had. Many thanks to Finney and Alex.

One of the downsides of a good review is that other people will discover your 'personal find' and then it is not just yours!!! As a re-enactor myself it was a joy to discover 'Nelson' on the premises. Alex has been known to portray him in the past, and he even looks like him too!! Breakfast was in the unique... More

My wife and I had stayed at Lombard House in May 2013 and were so impressed we had to stay there again ! The property dates back we understand to the 17th century and is full of character. Alex is a brilliant host and nothing was too much trouble. There are only two rooms at Lombard, the yellow room and... More

We wanted a place for our family of four plus Grandma to stay. Nothing was too much trouble and, we were all accommodated, at fair value. (Grandma stayed at another couple's B and B over the road, but we all ate together) the breakfast was sumptous, requiring tin foil which was happily provided to cart off the extra sausages for... Lombard House is an excellent B&B in a small charming 17th century house in Old Portsmouth. Its a good location within 10/15 mins walk of Portsmouth Harbour Railway Station and the Historic Dockyard. Our room was clean and comfortable and the owners were friendly and helpful and provided a very good breakfast in unique surroundings

Fantastic find. Lovely Georgian property really close to all the attractions of Old Portsmouth. Friendly and interesting hosts, lovely breakfast. We stayed for two nights with two friends and had a very enjoyable stay. Quirky property with lots of charm, we would thoroughly recommend this B&B.
