We arrived over an hour before we could officially have the room but the owner was kind enough to let us have it room early. The room was very pretty and comfortable. The towels were soft and fluffy and the bathroom had a double sink, a separate bath and shower and was spacious and spotless. Location excellent, near all the... More

We have just come back from a wonderful stay at St Margarets Lodge in Portsmouth. The staff were lovely and could not do enough for you.Danny the owner gave us some advice about parking restrictions in the area so that we do not get fined as well as giving us advice on the buses and local attractions . The breakfast... More

I stayed here a couple of nights, and this place has a "home away from home" feel to it. The staff are very friendly, and very knowledgeable about Portsmouth. Staff helpful in general as I had a cold when I stayed, and they gave me some medicine which sorted me out. Comfortable rooms, and a very good cooked breakfast in... More

We work in Portsmouth quite often so we have stayed in quite a few hotels, at this time of year you can have trouble finding accommodation, my husband found St Margaret's Lodge on the internet which had gave it a good review. Arrived Sunday night and was met by the owner. Our room was classed as a superior room, we... More

The St. Margaret's Lodge is more a small hotel than a B&B. It is located in a lovely area of Portsmouth with close access to public buses (the number 1 runs to the Portsmouth Dock Area) and within walking distance of restaurants & pubs. The hotel has various room sizes (we looked in quite a few after people had checked... More

We had a 3 night trip to Southsea to visit the historic dockyard and Isle of Wight. St. Margaret's Lodge was a perfect base. Close to the seafront and very well serviced by the No.1 bus every 10 minutes to the dockyard and other parts of Portsmouth. We had room 16 which was excellent. Top floor up 2 flights of... More

Quiet hotel, very well operating base for visit to Portsmouth. Parking for 3 cars on the drive, further free parking in the quiet neighbourhood. We had the bad luck to book the room after a secret nicotine addict had inhabited the room and the penetrant stench of smoke was still strongly present in the bathroom. The owner had tried everything... More

On arrival felt as though we were intruding in the owner's space. Didn't introduce himself, very flippant showing us our room and dining room. Room clean, but very dated, Poor selection in the tea tray, not even enough for 2 cups of tea. Bed was awful, we had a really poor nights sleep. No visitor book with information, had to... More

Stayed here for a weekend getaway. Lovely staff and the rooms was nice too. Very comfortable and affordable with a good location. Free breakfast was nice as well, free wifi etc. would stay here again. Short taxi ride of 10 minutes for about £6 takes yoU too the shops and restaurants so it's perfect.
