We have been here a couple of times - overnight stays, conference/dinner (B&B), lunch. The rooms are comfortable without being extravagant, the food well cooked and presented. The staff are always very helpful and considerate to the more elderly/infirm members of groups we have been with.

Brilliant location for a naval reunion. However if your reunion clashes with another large reunion beware as you cannot hear yourself speak in the very crowded bar. The Bar staff were excellent Sadly the whole Hotel is dated and a bit of a rabbit warren when it came to finding our room. The Plus side was the food. The breakfast... More

I cannot say enough about the Royal Maritime Club. From the reception, to our leaving the club I cannot praise the hotel highly enough. The beds were very clean. The mattress was most comfortable. The buffet breakfast was extensive and was was very nice,,I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed one night for the Great South run, around the corner from Gunwharf Quays with its shops, bars and restaurants, HMS Victory and close to railway station if coming by train. Although comfortable it does need a bit of an overhaul with some areas looking a bit tired. The rooms basic but perfectly adequate for our overnight stay. Spar supermarket... More

I visited this hotel for a 2 night stay to take in a navy reunion. The overall stay was very good despite a couple of hiccups with getting breakfast, however once sorted we had a great stay. The gala dinner was exceptional and we were really looked after, all the staff were very friendly and did their best to make... More

Stayed on a Friday night in September for a work night out in Gunwharf Quays. For the money I paid (£42), I thought the hotel was excellent value. Yes, decor is somewhat out of date in places but my room was very clean, functional, comfy, good size walk in shower etc. the staff were helpful and friendly and for somewhere... More

The hotel is only 5 mins walk from Gunwharf Quay, which was great for us. Parking on site was limited, but because I am disabled, the Hotel staff reserved space for me and could not have been more helpful. There is a multistorey across the road. We had dinner. The menu was very limited, but the service was good and the... More

This place was adequate. Check in process was smooth and friendly however the place was extremely hot throughout, Interiors pretty old-style including an excellent entrance hall. The room pleasant enough - really hot and couldn't see any air-con apart from the window. Wifi was free, shower no bath, room cosy in a kind of 1990s decor kind of way. The... More

Indeed we have done a great deal worse in Portsmouth and Southsea. Like anywhere in the city that is not a recent development the RMC suffers from a chronic parking problem, but has mitigated that with it's discount arrangements with a local car park. This, I feel, should be more prominently advertised on the website. But with petrol prices as... More

I enjoyed a very comfortable stay and good breakfast in this unusual hotel, which still bears all the hallmarks of its history as a naval club. The localtion is close to the historic dockyard, harbour station and Gunwharf Quay shopping area and only a few minutes walk from the city centre. It would make a good base for tourism, although...
