It is not a good hotel. But if you want a good price near the ferry and near the restaurants and bars that is clean and friendly then this is the place. The rooms can be warm, the shower does get you wet, just. We had to leave at 06.00 for the ferry to Le Havre and they offered us... More

I have an affinity with the Club, as a life member signed up, when it was previously the Royal Sailors Home Club. We have just returned from a two nights stay, my first revisit in 20yrs. The Club is perfectly situated for the Historic Dockyard, Gun-wharf Quays, railway & bus stations, all of which are within a 5 or so... More

I am leaving this review following our 2nd stay at The Royal Maritime Club hotel, we had stayed at this hotel previously to check it out as we usually stay in Gunwharf Quays itself or Southsea and liked it, this time round we stayed with friends....cannot fault.....hotel is clean, close to everything and the staff are very friendly. First time... More

Friendly helpful staff. They know the area and history of the hotel. Perfect for our trip. Hotel is very clean and comfortable. Lovely soft beds. Hot showers and fluffy towels. Would love to stay again.

We were booked in here via work for a 2 night stay, looked ok from the brief look of a picture I managed on the way to Portsmouth and on arrival I thought nothing of it, from the outside looked ok and in a good location, took us 10 or 15 minutes to park and this is a major issue... More

Arrived at the hotel and there was nowhere to park, eventually located an underground car park across the road (wasn't signposted on the way in) and parked there at £10 per 24 hours. On discussing with the car park attendant he advised that the hotel would stamp the parking ticket and we would get it half price - Result! Hotel... More

This hotel should be oozing all that old fashioned charm with its nautical theme and fifty's style lounge. But this is overshadowed by the fact that it is rather dirty and definitely in need of some TLC. If I had paid £40-50 for the night I would have accepted it, but at £90 I expected something a bit more upmarket.... More

This hotel is the antithesis of a Travel Lodge.. more like shabby chic. Its hard to describe... sort of university halls of residence meets hostel meets care home meets gentleman's club. The grubby hall carpets are offset by the polite uniformed staff mostly more mature men with a paternalistic manner( but not in an offensive way) Good bits- Friendly atmosphere, nautical motifs... An interesting place .. Quite 30's in style. Teeny tiny lift. Rooms were quite roomy and stylish and clean. No personal laundry facilities which makes it difficult for international travellers. Breakfast was quite nice. An older style accommodation but quite pleasant enough.
