Having made an error in booking dates I was left with a last minute need to find a room for 3. I received an email response very softly from James and soon had the weekend back on track! We had a family room for 3 with an en suite bathroom. It was clean, tidy and warm on a brisk weekend.... More

Very happy with this short notice choice of B&B. We had a family room, plenty of room for three of us. Good choice of breakfast. Will consider returning, when in Portsmouth again. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but furthest I parked away was only a couple of minutes walk. Lots of stairs, so some people may find difficult... More

We were just looking for somewhere reasonable to stay that was comfortable but cheap, rather than as a holiday destination. For our purpose, it was great. The breakfast was great and served in a nice room. I wouldn't choose to come here on holiday (I'd rather stay in self catering or a holiday than a B&B on holiday personally).

The Ferryman is a lovely Art Deco guesthouse that offers great value for money. The room was clean and perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was ok but the service was a let down. The breakfast cook was very abrupt and we felt we were causing her hassle by being there!!

Me and my family stayed in the Ferryman over the Easter bank holiday weekend. The owner of the hotel was very polite and helpful and also very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and I had a room that was recently refurbished with a brand new shower. The breakfast was included and was very nice, there was a lot of variety... More

Nice location, near Kings theater, pubs and restaurants. Short walking distance to Gunwarf and city center. Liked the breakfast very much. Rooms big and clean. Helpful staff. Stayed for a week. Pleasant stay overall!

The Ferryman is quite a quirky b and b – outside isn’t very prepossessing and the reception area carpets have seen better days, but James is very welcoming and helpful, and our room was fine . It was large, clean and well equipped, with a lovely art deco suite. The shower was really good, and the towels were plentiful. Breakfast... More

I have to stay here for a night since it's close to my house in Portsmouth due to parents coming to visit. Honestly i thought this Guest House will be small, cramp and dirty. But it was surprisingly good, well maintained, organized and customer friendly. The owner lives just downstairs which makes it more welcoming for their customer. The room... More

Clean B&B, but a bit expensive. Excellent location, breakfast needs to be improved: cheap and very oily. Good choice for one night with a family. We love the lady in the breakfast room: very nice and helpful.

We stayed at the Ferryman the night before our sailing to Santander. James, the owner, warmly welcomed us and gave us tips on where to go for sightseeing and dinner in the area. Our room was a family room and was spacious for all 5 of us to get a good nights sleep. We had a sink in the room... More
