We booked the suite after reading all the rave reviews. The food was absolutely delicious - we had lunch & dinner here, enjoying friendly service on both occasions. So I was very disappointed when we arrived for breakfast at 10am only to be served by a sullen brunette, who banged the food down on the table and made it obvious... More

Stayed here for one night for my husband's birthday. The hotel has a wonderful décor and the staff were friendly and always happy to help. Our room was small but well decorated and had some fabulous toiletries (ok my husband didn't appreciate them as much as me!). You get complimentary tea and coffee as a hotel guest which was a... My partner and I had need to travel to Cheltenham to attend the funeral of a very dear friend. As the wake was in Winchcombe we decided to stay at The Lion. We had visited The Lion last year and had had wonderful food in their restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and service both in the restaurant and bar area. We stayed... More

Chose this Inn because we had a dog. Good location for exploring the cotswolds. Room was fine although maybe a little on the small side but well fitted out with nice decor. Food was really good, had dinner there on both of our two night stay. What impressed us most was the friendliness of the staff, they could not do... More

We stayed two nights with three adults and two children in the suite plus another spacious room. The accommodation was very comfortable. The entire inn has great style, maintains its history but is in high quality condition. Breakfast is custom made and excellent. We also had a great meal one evening at the restaurant, one of the best in the... More

Had a very restful stay at The lion Inn. The accommodation is fantastic, The food in the restaurant was Devine but the most outstanding feature is the staff. Every time I asked for something they always replied no problem. Professional and friendly which made the stay relaxing and enjoyable. I cannot wait to return.

A lovely, warm pub with rooms We had a lovely room which was warm, cosy and private. Staff were hospitable - it was raining when we arrived so we were found a brolly. Just the little things that make it memorable.

What a delight The Lion is, beautifully renovated, wonderful staff and very good food, great bar. We stayed in room 4, the bed was extremely comfortable, lovely bathroom and even fresh flowers. Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Lion Inn started life as a coaching inn in the 15th Century. Over the years it has gone through many changes and played an important role in the village and surrounding areas; providing food, drink and accommodation for both people and horses, in a variety of guises. Having fallen in love with the building, Annie Fox-Hamilton took over ownership of the Lion in October 2011 and spent six months on a major renovation of the building and grounds. We were determined not to lose any of the inn’s original quirky charm; we unearthed quite a lot more than we had anticipated such as Minnie Mouse – the vintage wall painting in Room 1 we couldn’t bear to lose. The Lion has a bar, snug, restaurant, garden (ideal for alfresco dining), 6 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a mini suite. All have extremely comfortable beds, their own individual character and ambiance. ... more   less
