The Inn is situated around shopping (not too many shops) and the help was nice and helpful. The room was not too nice. I understand that the inn is old but the carpet was worn and nasty looking and it looked like mouse droppings on the floor. Surely it wasn't but that what it looked like. The bed was extremely... Dear Debra, Thank you for your review. I was a little surprised to read your comments regarding the cleanliness of the carpet. If there had been any doubt in your mind as to whether or not they were "mouse droppings", surely you would have contacted reception. We actually employ pest control experts to check our premises on a monthly basis,... More

I booked this hotel on laterooms for a last minute break for my partner and I. When we arrived we were placed in room 5. This room is dreadful!! The door is like a piece of cardboard that means that you can hear everything from outside the room as well as makes you feel rather insecure. The floor was dirty... More

Dear Dr Shaw, Thank you for your feedback. Room 5 is due for refurbishment. We have upgraded the bathroom, the bedroom itself is still to be completed. Having said that, it is still one of our more popular rooms. If you were that unhappy with your room you should have contacted reception, 4:47pm is not too late. Failing that, perhaps... More

The White Hart was a stop on our mini Cotswold Walking tour. We arrived from Stow after a beautiful warm day hike. Our room was very large, comfortable bed, great view and very quiet. We had heard the food was excellent here, so planned for dinner. We were not disappointed ... ate in a private area, service was excellent as... More

Having recently taken on a new head chef, the menu and food has had a welcome overhaul and it better than ever. Not only does the food look good, but it tastes good too, and the new menu offers a much better choice of dining options. It was also nice to see daily specials. Will be returning, and would recommend... More

Stayed for three nights, wish it could have been more! Arrived after a long walk to find that our luggage had been taken up the room already - nice touch. After a long soak in the corner bath we went downstairs for a drink and were immediately made to feel at home by the locals - special mention to Rosie.... More

Having said it would be a great weekend away we were only there for on night but thoroughly enjoyed it. The food, beer and wine was splendid and not too pricey whilst the room (at the top of the hotel) was small but had good views. Unfortunately the room had a shared bathroom but we knew about that before. We... More

We stayed in twin with ensuite overlooking the back patio. Distant views were lovely but spoiled by the constant bantering of Kitchen staff and smell of cigarette smoke drifting up from below. No bottled water in room so had to go to reception to ask for it. Requested help carrying a suitcase up the stairs but as help not forthcoming... More

Our room was spacious, bright, well-furnished and clean and we had fantastic views from the back of the hotel across to the steep Cotswold hills rising behind. But the overall effect for me was marred by night-time noise. I am a light sleeper, but when the thumping noise of the kitchen pop music finally was turned off at about 11.30pm... More

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the Rambler rooms - on the 2nd night the couple in the next room were very noisy - we rang reception 4 times between 1am and 3.30am - they asked the couple to keep quiet but with no effect. We requested another room but there was none available. When giving this feedback... More

Thank you for taking the time to review The White Hart Inn. I was obviously disappointed to learn of your experience on the second night of your stay with us. We fully expect everyone to have a peaceful nights sleep when they stay with us but, unfortunately, on this occasion your experience was spoiled by the actions of other guests.... More

Let me start by saying that this is a lovely Inn in a perfect location. There are just too many little things that stopped me giving a better rating. The Good Points - Location- You cannot get a better location, set in a wonderful village, the Inn stands at the end of the road on which is located Sudeley Castle... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Eat, drink and flop in historic Winchcombe. To some it's a pub, others a hotel. Situated at the heart of the village of Winchcombe near Cheltenham, this ‘restaurant with rooms’ (there are 11) offers the very best of British food and an excellent wine list. Visit the wine shop and try the famous sausages in the Wine & Sausage eating rooms. A perfect place to visit or stay if you love walking or visiting Cheltenham races. Each of the 8 en-suite rooms are individually styled and some have feature beds. In the Wine & Sausage eating rooms located on the inns ground floor they are passionate about real food, the great and simple British dishes that we grew up with. Ingredients are carefully sourced and wherever possible use local and regional farmers, growers, fishermen, producers, brewers and even winemakers. Just a few metres away from the inn you will find the scenic Cotswold Way and Gloucestershire Way footpaths. The Inn is also very popular with cyclists and can help with routes around the area, especially via one or two other 'watering holes'. There's even a hosepipe for washing down muddy bikes. Winchcombe is an idyllic base for touring the Cotswolds and the White Hart is the perfect bolt hole close to the famous sporting and cultural festival town of Cheltenham. ... more   less
