Great service, great value, beautiful setting. We did the spring into Cotswolds deal and ate the fine dining menu. I thought the quantity of the food was more than adequate and the quality was flawless. The hotel feels more like a 5 star to me, it's immaculately decorated and restored. We enjoyed the fresh, warm bread, local produce and imaginative menu.

Went into the Close for a snack at lunchtime. Ordered a fish platter to share and two drinks. Sat down. 30 min later enquired about the food - reading between the lines the order hadn't been sent through to the kitchen. 15 min nothing so asked for a refund and went elsewhere. The main issue was the attitude of the... More

From the moment we booked the hotel, until the time we left , the staff could not have been more helpful. I would particularly like to pick out Emily on reception, who was a credit to the hotel, and a great exponent of customer service. There were a couple of small issues we pointed out with the room when we... More

I stayed for one night in the Turret Room with my daughter. This really is a beautiful hotel which has been recently refurbished very tastefully. We arrived in the afternoon and had a cream tea followed later by dinner. The staff were very nice and friendly and made us feel very welcome. My only moan is the Highgrove shop next... More

Booked in for a spring break in one of the superior rooms. Easy to find and park. Good welcome. Room was spacious and full of character, a bit quirky with low beams and sloping floors. Although refurbished, it still needed some attention to the small damp patch and broken tiles in the bathroom. The room was in the eaves, and... More

Redecorated in tomb colours. The once lovely garden room has been replaced by a dark cave. Dirty table. Distracted waitresses. Although one was doing a great job. Fish platter had a good selection of.fish. nice prawns and white bait. No lemon to squeeze over the fish. Terrible weak latte. Soggy toast.

What a shame that a few very important areas reduced the review from excellent to average. On the plus side the welcome from the reception team couldn't be faulted as was the overall service levels. The bedrooms were a delight, light, airy very spacious and newly decorated and furnished to a high standard. Comfortable king size bed with quality pillows,... More

The Close is just a stone's throw and is handy to pop in for an impromptu Sunday Lunch. The hotel was refurbished at the end of 2013 and the new colour scheme takes a little getting used to as does the revised layout in the bar and library. However the food and service remain at a high standard and we... More
