We stayed here as part of a large wedding group, so luckily didn't spend much time in the room. The room was tiny, the bathroom even smaller and the sink just laughable. The wardrobe was cheap and nasty, the doors wouldn't close properly and the telly was barely watchable - think it had taken a knock at some point and... more

We have stayed here twice both times in the Maugersbury Suite- once as a couple and once with our baby. Both times we had a great stay and we would return again! The room is huge and has a bathroom upstairs out of the way. The bed is ultra comfortable, the decor very nice and good tea/coffee making facilities. The... more

I've read some of the bad reviews on here, and while I sympathise that not everyone's experience is the same, ours was really enjoyable. This area of the Cotswolds really is spectacular, and with so much rural charm in Stow and the villages nearby, you have to be a special kind of person NOT to soak up the 'ye olde... more

I stayed at the Royalist some years ago and enjoyed a great stay. This time it was not so good. The size of the standard room was small and the carpet was badly stained. It rained and in sveral places the roof of the hotel leaked. On both nights when eating in the residents' dining room we were assed to... more

A really characterful and comfortable hotel with well furnished rooms and communal areas. Very difficult not to get the impression that some of the less positive reviews emanate from people who don't understand that the hotel is a very old building. However, it has thoroughly modern standards of comfort without losing its character. Having stayed in numerous hotels in the... more

Stayed in the Maugersbury suite at Royalist Hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary. The bedroom was lovely but the upstairs jacuzzi bath room had a boarded up window and the radiator didn't work. When we complained about the radiator we were told that the maintenance man didn't work weekends so nothing could be done. Also, don't go for the view... more

This is a quaint little hotel set in a very lovely village in the Cotswolds. The dining room had a very good meal, accomodations and staffing left a lot to be desired. Wait staff in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner were polite and friendly but extremely slow and would disappear for a very long time and also... more

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights in a Superior Room on the top floor in what I guess would originally have been the attic. Our bedroom was extremely cosy, however we felt that the price we paid wasnt refected in the standard of the room or any part of the upstairs of the hotel. I know its the... more

We found this lovely little hotel on the web. From start to finish the staff could not do enough to help. I was organising a Golden Wedding party for my parents, which took a lot of planning and rearranging, but the staff were patient, courteous, helpful and unruffled throughout! I was phoning daily at times!! The hotel itself is situated... more

At first everything appeared fine when I booked into the hotel, the member of staff was polite and friendly, however we stayed in room number 7 which had a four poster bed. The bedroom carpet was dirty and stained and the bathroom had an old wooden toilet seat. ( Perhaps they should know not the most healthiest and hygienic )... more
