I was so excited about going to stay here and had been wanting to for ages. I managed to get a great deal through Travelzoo and booked up for a Saturday night. The setting of the hotel is gorgeous, tucked away in a beautiful village and surrounding countryside, and the building itself is stunning. Inside, at first glance, it was... More

So...just back from this lovely hotel in the middle of a beautiful little place called Painswick, with narrow lanes, boutique shops and cafe's and a truly glorious churchyard. Coming to a place like this I would expect a 5 star stay, it's not cheap but there is no secret to that, this is not a cheap style hotel. We arrived... More

When we arrived at this beautiful hotel it had just started snowing and it looked magical. My husband and I stayed between Christmas and New Year for a relaxing break and we're delighted with this smart but historic hotel. Samantha the general manager was really helpful and welcoming, and the receptionist brought us coffee when we had a short wait... More

We stayed in gorgeous suite 12 for 3 nights just after Christmas. The room is well decorated, bright and beautiful with a fabulous view from the balcony. The staff left us alone, which suited us perfectly. The hotel is very peaceful and close to nice pubs for dinner and lovely walks. We slept well. Best club sandwich I have ever... More

Interesting mix of funky decor in traditional Cotswold building. Comfortable room (7) overlooking valley. TV on wall a bit on small size and why did none of three spot lights in ensuite illuminate mirror? (Stood on toilet to turn one around!) Excellent WIFI connection. Though chef off ill, dinner excellent - quail and black pudding starter memorable. Would definitely return.... More

We stayed at this hotel as a stopover on Boxing Day while travelling from Devon to Manchester. It is classic (the building), modern and quirky (the decor). We had a lovely room (number 11) which was large with a fantastic ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath. The weather was a bit grim so we holed up in the room and... More

stayed 2 nights in December, for a romantic break. Painswick is gorgeous, the hotel very contemporary and arty so if u prefer traditional this is hotel not for you. We had a lovely big room with view of the valley. Breakfast was lovely but eat out for dinner. We understand the concept of fine dining but they are having a... More

We enjoyed a Travelzoo deal here in December 2014. The décor is idiosyncratic and bold, but not overpowering. The service was excellent and very responsive. The dinner was good, but maybe a bit style-over-substance. The breakfast was excellent. The room we stayed in (no. 1) was very nice, well appointed and with a lovely view over the valley. It's a... We arrived late afternoon for a Sunday night stay. Beautiful building and some quirky and contemporary designs that contrasted well with the olde world feel. Decided not to dine in restaurant( which had great reviews) as we would have been the only dinner guests that evening. We stayed in Room 1. All was fine until 1.30 in the morning when... More

I had a wonderful stay and meal here... It exceeded our expectations and was a marvellous find. We will be returning next summer to make use of their beautiful outside space during our stay and explore the neighbouring nature walks.
