We stayed the weekend of the 7th November the room was potentially lovely but not quite clean dead fly on carpet dirty cups from previous tenant etc. The evening meal again was nearly good but lacked that finish. Breakfast was OK we asked for porridge for my wife, reply we do Weetabix, not I will ask the chef. The boiling... More

We have been to the Bull several times, due to sentimental reasons. We were not disappointed. There is something so unique about staying in an hotel that was built several hundred years ago. The beams, the worn stone - it has character. The bar is great, and the food good. As noted by other travellers, there has been a recent... More

I booked The Bull at Fairford at the last minute and wish I hadn't bothered . I have stopped in many hotels and bed and breakfasts over the years and this has to be the worst experience ever... I booked a superior room got room 22 . When I opened the door to find mould on the wall ,ripped bedding... More

We booked the traditional Bull Hotel as a base for a weekend exploring the Cotswolds. We arrived a little earlier than planned and couldn't check-in so had lunch at the hotel. The food was interesting but rather expensive for what it was. The staff were friendly enough but something just didn't feel right, they all seemed preoccupied. Then when we... More

Great location and beautiful on the outside Very busy - so they must be doing something right Breakfast was good - though I struggle with tea via the T bag fishing approach in a British Hotel - why no teapots? The bedroom was dingy and uninviting - or characterful and historic depending on your viewpoint The 1 BIG drawback was... More

New owners, same old dive. Beer is poorly kept, food is awful and overpriced despite the Bull's protestations. Staff are friendly although lack initiative and autonomy. Fishing is eye wateringly expensive for some of the worst kept banks in the South West. This isn't the Itchen or the Test, it's the Coln. Whilst it could be a nice stretch, the... More

Thank you for your review. We do not normally reply to reviews but feel on this occasion we must. We believe that as you make specific mention of fishing on the River Coln that it was your party of two who were trying to fish our stretch of river for free, being most disgruntled when challenged by myself and asked... This Hotel is obviously old and would benefit from being refurbished, the Staff are friendly and helpful. The furniture is also dated especially in the bedrooms, plenty of Car parking at the front of the building except on Market day. Lovely location and if the Hotel is refreshed it would be a great place to stay.

The hotel looked nice on the website, but the reality was rather different. Lots of little problems, which, on their own would not have amounted to anything serious, just compounded until the whole stay was ruined. We were in Room 3, which had clearly seen better days. The floor had a definite slope to it, which is not a big... More

Visited The Bull recently with several friends and family whilst at the Royal International Air Tattoo, air show. On arrival found the pub area to be rustic and welcoming, although fairly empty. I asked for a menu and was given a nice laminated large sheet. A quick look showed the typical pub fayre on offer at typical prices; steak and... More

Great little secret. Lovely location right on the square. The hotel is spacious with good food and welcoming staff. Rooms are perfectly sized with nice features. There is a good selection of local ales on tap which was well enjoyed by our fishing party. If you are after a weekend away fishing then this place is worth a try, Fairford... More
