In a recent review of a hotel in Wimborne I said that the exterior promised little but the interior more than compensated. The bull is the reverse. It's a wonderful building in a magnificent location in the quiet town square but the rooms were rather tired and worn (and I saw 3 of them) perhaps not surprising given the huge... More

BUILDING: Your traditional genuine medieval 15th Century Ye Olde Englishy Pubb. This is a lovely rambling historical building complete with genuine crazy beams, wonky creaking floors and fireplaces (unlit in summer) that made the place smell faintly of woodsmoke. There is not a straight line to be found and you just keep finding new public rooms - there is even... More

Myself and my lady friend stayed at this hotel for a long weekend, room was olde world, not modern but cosy and comfortable with an en-suite, nice english breakfasts but used flasks for coffee and hot water, which wasn't hot enough for a decent cuppa, an old fashioned pot of tea would have been better but considering the price we... We have great affection for The Bull having come here to fish at least once a year for 20 years. There's a been a change of management and the very nice couple who are running it are now trying to take it in the country gastropub direction. We have to say that fond as we were of the 'old' Bull,... More

We stayed at the bull hotel for just one night and I am so glad we didnt book an extra night! Upon arrival there was no where to park we had to park at the other end of the town. We waited at reception for ages to be checked in before anyone noticed us stood there. We were given the... More

Visitors to this page will note that only on very rare occasions do we respond to reviews. In this instance we have to respond. The reviewer did indeed stay with us and did ask to change rooms as he requested a more modern room in our character hotel which is renowned for its unique individual features. He and his partner... I was invited to a 60th lunch party last Sunday and what fun it was. We were in the private dining room which was lovely, very oldy worldy, lots of beams etc. There were about 16 of us and the two waitress's worked really hard, nothing was to much bother. The food was delicious and the only negative comment several... More

Lovely food!! Although the two things I wanted on the menu has sold out for second time in a few days!! I did have the steak in the end which was cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyable!! Service was a bit slow as only one waitress on who was serving drinks and food. Lacked atmosphere!! Larger very expensive at £5... More

Visited with work colleagues and had the fish finger sandwich which came with vegetable crisps and side salad. It was perfect and very reasonably priced . Great atmosphere and very cosy and warm by the open fire.

The Bull is wonderfully old building that is so full of character. I stayed here whilst on a course, the owner Ian is a total gentleman for whom nothing is too much bother. The food is to die for and the location is stunning.

We stayed the weekend of the 7th November the room was potentially lovely but not quite clean dead fly on carpet dirty cups from previous tenant etc. The evening meal again was nearly good but lacked that finish. Breakfast was OK we asked for porridge for my wife, reply we do Weetabix, not I will ask the chef. The boiling... More
