With so many towns being dominated by soulless pub/wine bar chains this is a great "boozer" It's a proper pub with friendly welcoming staff, well cooked food focusing not on trying to be a fancy restaurant but concentrating on wholesome food with local ingredients. If you're visiting Cirencester and want the feel of the Cotswolds then try this place out... More

Good value for money £55 paid for one night extra for a breakfast served after 10am. Carpet needed a good clean shame otherwise perfect accommodation. The room was acceptable nothing special just the basics. This is primary a pub business with a few rooms. Food is the core of the business and has good reviews worth a try.

Recently visited for Sunday lunch with my family, all our meals were excellent. The meat ( in my case pork loin, my mother had the lamb ) were of a very high quality, vegetables were cooked perfectly, portions were generous ( and I'm a big eater ). Good selection of local beers. Friendly staff, good prompt service although it was... More

Such a shame. A great location and the potential to be a really nice pub, all ruined by a disagreeable, hostile and boorish owner who managed to make the whole experience totally unpleasant. Also the beer is much more expensive than the other bars in the town. Wouldn't go again if you paid me.

May 28th 2015 The food was edible although not much on the plate! However the service was awful, the table behind us and ourselves were rushed... The young lady serving asked if we had finished and if we would like anything else, we declined politely. At which point she asked if we wanted the bill, before even the main course... More

On Wednesday evening I met with a group of friends to have a meal. The place was fairly quiet and our table was the only one dining at the time. Food took an hour to arrive and was cold. Ravioli undercooked, small portions, poor value for money. Staff untidy and inattentive, no apologises made when cold for returned to be... More

We recently spent a bank holiday weekend in Cirencester as a family with dogs, The Golden Cross welcomed us all. The food is great and the staff are friendly I'd quite happily eat there every time I'm in town.

This is the best pub accomodation i have ever stayed in. Centrally situated comfortable warm room, with everything I needed. Single room is short on wardrobe space though- but other than that I couldn't fault it. Excellent value, enjoyable, relaxed stay. Very good food.

I booked the golden cross at short notice due to work commitments, what a very very pleasant place to stay, the staff although busy were attentive, kind and polite, I was made to feel like I was a regular visitor. All in it was a very enjoyable, relaxing stay and I will be returning with the only difference being that... More

My hubby and parents enjoyed an evening meal at the Golden Cross last Saturday evening. The staff were lovely, helpful and pleasant and the food was wonderful. There was a vast choice from the menu and specials board, I had the scallops and then the trio of pork which was excellent and very good value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed our... More
