We were referred to this establishment following a website double booking error at another B&B. Other alternative accomodation offered to us was the Big Sleep, however we chose this one as we prefer smaller family-run businesses, as they are generally more welcoming and friendly. How wrong can one be! Whilst the accomodation was reasonably comfortable, albeit with a dirty carpet,... more

Well we were concerned about what we would find given the negative reviews but I have to say we were pleasantly surpised. Although we didn't meet the lady of the house, the landlord was very accommodating and polite. We were able to drop off our bags early and the room was charming - very clean and all the amenities. All... more

I am one of those people who always threatens to complain about bad service but rarely does once the moment has passed. But on this occasion it has stayed with me long enough that i simply had to. At the time of our visit, my suspicion was that the service at the Cheltenham guest house had all the hallmarks of... more

I was in Cheltenham on a business trip and stayed three nights. I felt I got what I paid for - a relatively cheap place to sleep. The room was a small double that was adequate for myself, but would have been a real squeeze for a couple. The small room lacked a desk, or even a table, and -... more

Very nice place in a very good location. Free WiFi, digital TV gives dozens of channels. Room nicely decorated. Small bathroom for WC and shower, hand basin outside bathroom in bedroom. Shower temperature regulated by upmarket taps. Good breakfast. However: Hostess very unwelcoiming. Not rude, or anything, just unwelcoming. Felt like we were intruding while we were there. Host was... more

The Cheltenham Guest House was adequate in terms of cleanliness and comfort, but unfortunately the hostess was quite unpleasant. Upon arrival she was unwelcoming to the point of rudeness and was also quite abrasive on the phone when we booked. We thought perhaps we had offended her in some way but when we checked the trip advisor website we found... more

if you like your hostess to be warm and welcoming, find somewhere else. We were welcomed by her more friendly other half but didn't see him for rest of our stay. perhaps he was responsible for the very delicious vegetarian breakfast, which was the one and only thing I would recommend. I can't echo the comments about the rooms being... more

OK - to be honest, for the price the room WAS clean and reasonably comfortable if rather small. That's the only reason this report gives a score of 2 rather than 1. The accommodation was perfectly acceptable. What was not acceptable was the extremely rude and unwelcoming attitude of the hostess. I don't expect a kiss and a hug. I... more

We were greeted by the friendly gentleman of the house and his dogs, and shown to our room. That evening we briskly walked for about ten minutes through a distinctly shabby area to get into Cheltenham for our evening meal, and then back again. The room was OK, but the en-suite was a bit of a joke. On the left... more
